In 1996, the brewery innovates and launches Barbãr, ale with honey.
Born of the ancestral know-how of a family brewery, Barbar beer will please you with its malt taste and subtle flavour of honey. It is brewed using water drawn from artesian wells on the site of the brewery, at Quenast, a small village to the south of Brussels. This area is well-known for the quality and the diversity of its beers.
Barbar beer is prepared from a secret and harmonious mixture of barley malts, hops and honey carefully selected by our Master Brewer. The traditional brewing method, associated with our unique strain of yeast, and the secondary fermentation in the bottle, gives Barbar the authentic flavour of a very special ale.

A very nice and refreshing beer with a fruity and spicy touch. The honey gives it a nice softness and does not overwhelm... Idealy during hot summer days :)

330 ml bottle. Pours clear amber coloured, fluffy head. Nose of vanilla and honey. Clove, banana, coriander, honey, orange zest, some peach. Balanced taste, some sweetness with dry bitterness. Lively carbonated, medium bodied, watery to creamy texture, dry finish. Lovely honey ale.

Pours a hazy golden colour with 2 finger of white head. Aromas of banana, peach and honey. Taste matches the aroma. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Heldere gouden kleur. In de smaak wel honing. Redelijk, maar voor mij geen topper.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2017 Bottle at brams. Sweet malt and honey, some citrus and spices, caramel, fudge. Sweet and moderate bitter, medium body and soft carbonation.

Drinkable, but bit boring, some honeyish, floral impact, malty. Moderate sweet all the way. Bit unbalanced

The honey factor is quite strong indeed--while it hides the abv, it also dominates so much that all the other features, even malt, are drowned out. Drinkable and interesting but not nearly a Belgian highlight (11.2 oz bottle, Brussels)

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2017 Bottle at home. Pours a orange colour with a small white head. Tastes sweet, but not too sweet. Tastes bitter, but not too bitter. It makes you feel warm inside, however, the honey smoothly covers the taste of alcohol. Together with its bottle and glass, this beer is an experience perfect for a cold autumn's night.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2017 Trés bonne , legere aucun arriere gout de bière « forte » , pas lourde en bouche vraiment une belle decouverte

Pours clear Amber with thick white foamy head. Sweet malty strong ale, with clear honey undertones, and a lightly bitter hoppy finish, with honey lingering in the aftertaste. Well balanced and very drinkable.
