Bottled. Clear cola like color, thin lacy head. Slightly smoky/burnt rubbery nose, yeast, strawberries and dried apricot, hayish hops. A hint of chocolate. Softly smoky flavor based on sweetish grains. Yeasty cloves in the finish with some soft/herbal bitterness. Long, softly smoky aftertaste. Texture ois slightly fizzy and yeasty. Medium body. Quite well balanced.

Bottle. Coffee black, with a smooth creamy head. Absent nose, very "light" taste with a liquorice finish

Bottle at home. Dark Brown color with a small Brown head. Medium body and medium carbonation. A bit fruity. Finish is not bitter

Dark ale with strong smell of bourbon, no head, little carbonation and not much else. From a bottle at home so I'll give it another go one day but I'm not rushing it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Dark beer with a thin head and a smell of chocolate, fruit and malt. Flavour follows suit with the fruit coming through quite strong. Body is a touch watery but it’s very drinkable.

Bottled 12/08/14. A dark brown coloured beer with a whitish head. A decent malty brown ale type beer. Good nutty flavours. Nice depth. Fruity elements. Liked this.

Bottle, 75cL. Home. A dark brown beer with brown orange hues on the top. Medium white head. Poor persistence. Smoked aroma, caramel, herbs, spices (liquorice, anise). Medium refreshing bitter, medium sugary sweet. Medium body, oily texture. Soft carbonation. Warming finish. Overall, a pleasant bittersweet smoked-spicy brown ale.

Bottle. Brown with a pale beige head that fades to a coat then lasts OK. Aroma of dough, carob, intriguing spices - mace, anise and what is presumably lady’s mantle (according to the bottle). Less full-bodied than the aroma suggests, sweet, a bit nutty, carob, dries out towards an end that has little bitterness. Aniseed becomes quite prominent after a while. Interesting beer, would go a treat with terrine.

Davros (3282) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - MAY 26, 2013
Pours dark brown with a fading off-white head. Nose shows toasty malt, some sweet brown sugar, bready malt and nutty character. Enticing. Similar flavours, nutty and bready malt with the Belgian dubbel-like brown sugar note in there too. Carbonation seems a little high. Would be a really good brown ale if not for the brown sugar character.
