This Golden Sorghum Lager will appeal to beer drinkers who prefer the lighter taste of lagers produced by the major brewers, such as Anheuser-Busch, Coors, Miller, and Heineken. This ale has a light crisp taste to meet the thirst quenching requirements of the lager style while still having enough body to interest the ale drinker during the spring and summer seasons. This beer has low bitterness and a subtle but pleasant hop aroma that will gently caress the senses.

11/4/10. 12oz bottle labeled "Bard’s Original Sorghum Malt Beer." Clear, dark golden pour with a fizzy white head that is gone instantly. Sweet caramel aroma with medicinal properties and a faint booziness. Sweet and slightly spicy flavor with hints of diacetyl, green apples, and medicine. Meh.

12 oz bottle split with Pwn3d. Body is golden brown. Aroma is caramel and malt. The taste is malt, watered down soda taste - not good.

12-oz. Pours a brilliant crystal clear coppery medium amber with verrrry little grayish head. Nasty cherry nose, smells synthetic. Mostly butterscotch on the nose, but the artificial fruit is hard to forget once you notice it. Medium body, odd for a lager, and somewhat fizzy. More weird phony butterscotch and cherry on the mid-palate. If you’re allergic to barley malt, and this is your only other beer option, for god’s sake, start learning about scotch or red wine.

Savannah, Ga. - Habersham Beverage Warehouse - 12 oz bottle. Medium copper pour, barely there tight white head. Aroma of butterscotch. Flavor has some of the same butterscotch notes with some ripening vegetable funkiness and a touch of molasses. Reminds me somewhat of malta. Somewhat sticky, but lifeless mouthfeel. Better than most sorghum beers - but glad I do not have to resort to these for medicinal reasons.

UPDATED: OCT 27, 2007 Bottle. Head is initially small, fizzy, off-white, fully diminishing. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cereal, caramel, wort), with light notes of DMS and plastic. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. Very raw and crude. Maybe a touch better then the state it was in at GABF 2004, but still...damn. Hard to stomach. One word: Redbridge.

Aroma repulsive band aid aroma that followed up with spoiled fruits. I had hard time to sniff this again just to make sure how bad was it and that does not happen very often.
Appearance dark golden with lighter top. Fizzy mid. 2-
Flavor and Palate : After being shocked with its aroma I had my reservations to have sip of it. Result was similar – wide array of off flavors, green apple, diacetyl, phenols, crazy bad funk in there. This must be one of worst creations ever made in beer world. My sample was extremely bad.

12oz bottle from the state store
I wasn’t expecting much and I wasn’t disappointed!
The good: Pours clear golden with a medium sized white head and good lacing
The medium: Aroma is bready with spices
The bad: Taste is very bisquity with some sourness
Footbalmed the rest of the glass. For some reason I also bought another sorghum beer at the same time. I’m looking forward (not) to trying it.

(Rating #641)

Pours a transparent copper amber with a thin, spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of sweet cane sugar and light fruity esters. Starts thin and sugary sweet with a hint of earthy bitterness toward a drier semi-sweet finish. An interesting brew, but nothing that I’d really want to drink much of.

Plenty of hops in the aroma here. They really jump out. Flavor is a mix of corn, honey and grapefruit and there is a slight bitter aftertaste. There is slight carbonation visible in the glass but it seems to create bubbles in the mouth.
