Draft. Caramel malt and sweet orange and peel aroma. LIght abmer with a moderate off-white head. Carmale malt, sweet orange, citrus peel, and light spicy rye flavor. Medium body, moderate carbonation. BBB63 (6557) - La Porte, Indiana, USA - AUG 4, 2012
Tap at Brewery: Pours a glowing sunset copper hue with a lasting fluffy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of mango, orange zest, and apricots along with some resiny and catty vapours. Base pale malts and a little bit of carmelized malts too. Not getting much rye on the nose however. The flavor profile is where the rye sings along with a hops to create the most aggressive bitterness profile I have yet to have from the brewery. Sure the pale and crystal malt is there but strictly a bit player. Nice tropical and citric overtone. The mouth feel is sharp and biting, lively and refreshing with just a bit of that rye dryness on the finish. Very well done, perhaps my second favorite Bare Hands brew to date. 574deadzone (1419) - North Central, Indiana, USA - JUL 15, 2012
On tap and then a bullet to take home. Pours a hazy golden orange with a thin eggshell cap that leaves some intricate lacing. Nose involves some spicy rye, citrusy hops, some peaches, candied orange, and some light toasted malt. Taste is very bitter, but there’s plenty of sweetness in there that becomes more evident with warmth. Even a pinch of tartness. Light to medium bodied with average carbonation and an all over prickly bitterness on the end. Flat out awesome. I love rye beers, and once again Bare Hands knocks it out of the park. Loved it.
