3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle dated 29.07.11, so about 2 years old now. Shared at home - cheers Steven! Pours dark brown with a big white head. High carbonation. Lots of toffee on the nose, plums and raisins. Big mouthfeel and sweet finish. Really enjoyed this, a good British barley wine.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Fruity, malty aroma, fairly weak but pleasant. A slight sulphur aroma but not enough to be unpleasant.
Dark amber brown in colour, a good head and carbonation for such a strong beer.
Fairly light for the style but nicely complex, dark fruits, perhaps prune, fig and raisin. A slight chocolatey note at the end. Sweetness is nicely balanced by the bitterness and though warming there are no hot alcohol notes.
The bottle I tried was 10 months old but this beer would probably get even better with age.
