UPDATED: OCT 26, 2007 Bottle conditioned, from the brewery. Black in colour. It was immediately apparent that something was wrong on pouring the beer. The consistency was somewhere between tar and phlegm. Clearly ropey and infected. The second ropey beer of the evening (the first was Lizard Kernow Gold) in fact. Literally undrinkable - you’d need a spoon. The upside was that we got more entertainment from this beer than any of the others we tasted in the session, especially the video Mes made of the beer being drain-poured with the last half inch or so exiting the glass in a single glob. If we were scoring on entertainment value this would be a straight 5.0. But, as a beer, it couldn’t get much worse. A shame as I am always keen to support brewers that step outside the standard confines of British brewing. And, with hardly a beer below 6.0%, this lot certainly do.
NB: I wouldn’t normally rate an infected beer but, as it was purchased direct from the brewery and they haven’t replied to my email, I’m making an exception in this case.
