Keg at Barfüßer, Nuremberg. Dark brown beer. Light aroma, some roast malt. Flavour is a bit lacking, and thin, but what's there is nice enough. BeerandBlues2 (14018) - Escondido, California, USA - JAN 15, 2016

Dark brown with a medium beige head. Aroma had roasted malt. Flavor had roasted malt, liquerice and finished dry. Not bad. Perhaps a bit to much liquorice. anders37 (27621) - Malmö, SWEDEN - SEP 12, 2015

On tap at the brewery in Nuremberg. Dark brown beer lasting tan head. it’s a slightly treacle flavoured schwarz. Nit great not much hop on the finish yet it has a spicy finish. Ok. Less good than the blond amd neither worth coming to Nurnberg for. User37895 (3085) - - DEC 4, 2013
Dark brown pour, red edges, fluffy white head. Aroma of nuts, choco, caramel, toasted elements. Flavor followed, malt heavy, depth of an altbier there, but not enough hops or dryness in the finish. Not a classical schwarz style, only called so to emphasize that it is dark. Actually dunkel is a better classification, not far off from a Munich dunkel especially as found in Franconia, where dunkel is generally light and way off from a munich dunkel. Finish was a bit malt sticky with light carbonation. A nice brew, not highly drinkable. JK (6342) - St. Louis Park, Minnesota, USA - MAY 5, 2013
At Barfüßer, Nuremberg. On draught. Brown color. Moderate roast flavor, a bit thin on the palate but sessionable enough. sarauckelman (550) - Durham, Durham, ENGLAND - APR 13, 2013
Dark burnt read color, tending towards black. Aroma of caramel. Toasted, malty notes, caramelly but not sticky or sweet. Pleasantly tingly on the tongue.
