COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Rich and dark, this full bodied stout has just enough hop bitterness to counter the big and bold malt backbone. Chocolate malt and roasted barley yield rich flavours and smoky aromas of coffee and dark chocolate. Slight ester presence, with hints of pear and blackberry. This face-warming favourite was blessed by the late addition of boreal birch syrup (produced in Quesnel at Moose Meadow Farms), lending it a truly unique flavour. Goes well with any hearty dishes, or try sipping it while roasting marshmallows around the campfire.

Rating #2577 - 2016.05.13 - Bottle @yegbeerschool event. Beautiful dark brown pour with a fairly weak tan head with mild lacing. Aroma is a hint of dark chocolate, toasted malt, burnt sugar, herbal. Warmth of the alcohol present but balanced by the sharp bitterness of the stout - some earth, some sticky, syrupy sweetness. Delicious.

pictoman (1211) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 9, 2017
Poured from 650mL bottle. Very dark brown with beige head. Coffee and dry cocoa. Birch syrup adds a bittersweet touch. Adds a slight sweetness with a mild dry bitter finish. Interesting unique touch that works. If they increase the quality of the chocolate flavour this would be a top stout.

Was very good and reminded me a lot of Guinness. It was slightly more flavourful but the head and body had the same look.

Bottle, shared with Parksy, PQ, Grippitis, and Mike G. Hearty looking pour, very dark brown with a tan head. Rich and roasty, some dark fruit acids in the finish. Nice roasty bitterness. Low sweetness despite the birch syrup. Very good.

Bottle found in northern BC. Very nice big bright brown fluffy head and dark body. Good aroma of tar, motor oil, coffee beans. Flavour is nice with lots of chocolate cake and coffee, some sharp molasses hints. I’ve had a lot of bad stouts in B.C. but this is one of the exceptions, and very good.

Dark body off white head. Some lacing. Roast malt aroma some maple but I know it’s actually birch. Taste is quite roasty, dark chocolate, maybe some cherries. Lactose. Quite nice.
