Clear copper with a small wispy beige head. Nose is sweet Munich and caramel maltiness, limited hops, smells well lagered. The flavor is a bit thin, some caramel malt, just a hint of bitterness on the back end. A little too light bodied for my preference in the style.

Pours copper with an off white head. Aroma is toasted malt with herbal hops. Flavor is caramel malt with toasted notes followed by floral and herbal hops.

Tap at the brewery. Pours clear amber with a small, fizzy off-white head, short retention with no lacing. Aroma is rich bready malt, light earthy hops and dates. Flavor is sweet malt, light hops and medium bitterness with a dry finish. Medium body and carbonation.

On tap 4 oz. sample at Maryland Microbrewery Festival at Union Mills Homestead in Westminster, MD. This 2012 version comes in at 7.2% ABV. Hazy, rusty brown with medium-sized tan head and excellent lacing. Aroma of bread, caramel and hops. Taste of caramel and floral hops with a bready finish. Very nice flavor and well balanced. Medium body and medium/high carbonation. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

strongpieman (1651) - Mount Airy, Maryland, USA - OCT 15, 2010
Clear, amber beer with light, thin head. Faint malty aroma, full body. Taste is subdued but expected for this type. Pretty decent beer all around, but a little more flavor would make this stand out more.

Derek881 (1272) - Denver, Colorado, USA - NOV 9, 2006
I enjoyed this quality beer at the 2006 Frederick Oktoberfest on draft out of the bucket I purchased. The aroma was powerfully rich, and with caramel and roasty sensations. It had a dark amber color and only a thin head. The body was medium with an almost lively carbonation level. Definitely a beer that fit the occasion!

Just sampled from 2006 Brewfest in Union Mills, MD. Nothing too much going on here. This was the first sample I had for the day and it is unfortunately rough around the edges. Mild gritiness and preemptive alcohol bite make this offering less than its capable of.

UPDATED: JUL 9, 2008 2004 Edition... This beer rocks!... One of the best Marzens I’ve ever had. Beautiful, crystal clear, copper lager with a small, creamy, white head. The nose and flavor have huge notes of caramel, toffee, clover, black pepper, earthy hops and warm, Autumnal alcohol. Medium to full-bodied with a silky mouthfeel and lively carbonation. Lengthy, moderately bitter, sticky, grassy finish. World class brew! 2003 Edition... Sparkling clear, copper lager. Fruity aroma with notes of caramel. Malty flavor with big caramel blasts. Well-bittered. Thin and fizzy. Lengthy, bitter finish. Nice Marzen. Big hops for the style.
