Bottle. Brown beer with a light head. The aroma is lightly coffee, mildly smoked and bitter. The flavour is bitter and coffee. Overall a very nice slightly rich expresso like beer.

750ml Bottle: Aroma of malts, chocolate, roasting, slight grapes, slight alcohol, and a hint of wood. Poured dark brown/ruby/purple in color with a small, dense, tan head that lasted throughout. Opaque. Lightly sparkling. Flavor is light to medium sweet. Tastes of malts, slight smoke, light caramel, light oak, chocolate, light coffee, cream, light toffee, slight bourbon, slight hops, slight grapes, slight vanilla, and a few raisins. Medium to full body. Viscous, slightly chalky texture. Soft to average carbonation. Sweet, chocolate, bourbon, oak, vanilla, and caramel finish.

750ml bottle. Pours deep brown with a creamy beige head. Nose of some caramel and toffee, with hints of peach and apricot sweetness. Flavor was much of the same. A decent brew but nothing spectacular.

Bottle kindly shared by John in Johnny’s Off Licence, Rome. Complex fruitiness, bitter sweet. Grapes, spices, well balanced. The hops are not too evident, but they are doing the job creating a balance. Long lovely finish.

JoeinDahlem (1560) - Berlin, GERMANY - MAY 4, 2009
From bottle at Vilvordia fest. Muddy dark brown color. Lightly sweetish nose like New Orleans pralines, brown sugar and nuts. A bit sweet, mildly bitter, well-rounded flavor with that nutty-caramel backdrop. Another dangerous one, tasty and drinkable.
