Draught at Darby’s Gastown, Vancouver; 9.1% ABV, as Boneyard 3 Headed Hop MonsterIphonephan (7014) - Jackson Hole/McLean, Virginia, USA - JUL 13, 2017
Golden color, clean. Nice aroma, orangey hops, mild mellow malt. Sweet malt base, strong; the hop is resiny, a bit orangey, lightly piney and dank; good but doesn’t seem superfresh, or maybe it has always been cloying.
On draft at Thai Me Up in Jackson. Pours a hazy brownish copper with an off white head. Aroma of mango. Flavors of tropical fruit with some light malt notes. Moderately bitter finish. Oakes (17831) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 1, 2017
Draught @ Darby’s Gastown. Hazy amber with a bubbly head. Really big hop nose - orange, grapefruit, and some piney notes, too. Sweet, a little bit syrupy, intense with alcohol in the finish, along with citrus hop notes and a fair bit of bitterness. Probably more intense than I’d prefer - it’s on the big side of IIPA and that’s not optimal for me. Ferris (15901) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 6, 2017
Draft - Caramel, syrupy notes and oily weedy notes. Clear gold with a decent white head. Oily luppulin notes and some Mandarin. Maybe a bit old, but I don’t get the hype, although the pedigree is pretty impressive. commonmac (1263) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - APR 14, 2017
Tap at Apex in Portland for the shawtank celebration. Snifter glass. Bright orange and golden...slight haze. Less than a quarter finger white head...some lacing. Aroma is vibrant and citrusy with pineapple and tropical fruit characteristics. Taste is a really well balanced with an initial wave of sweetness, some subtle hoppy bitterness, and a final kick of alcohol bite. Big and assertive...good warmth. Pineapple lingers. Very flavorful and high quality effort.

Draft at Brouwer’s. Pours a slightly hazy bright orange with a dense and creamy pale tan head. Big bright pine and orange peel on the nose. Creamy medium body, edging to the thick side. Richly toasted caramel palate under a ton of bright pine and orange peel. Long tangy finish, a little boozy warmth. Awesome beer. Zeswaft (1774) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 8, 2017
Tap at Bottleworks. Pervasive tropical fruit aroma. I could smell it from the counter top. Flavor is straight up pineapple juice. Sweet and bitter. Excellent. luttonm (6483) - Seattle, Washington, USA - APR 7, 2017
Grower in Seattle. Dissipating head on a rich, bright, inviting orange body. As soon as I undid the bottle cap a fantastic waft of bright clean pine hops. A touch of alcohol on the nose as well. Heavier weight double ipa but the gorgeous pine and orange reduction hops. This is very fresh and delicious. Heavy hop weight, a little resin chalkiness. Fantastic big IPA. douglas88 (9420) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 3, 2017
On tap at Belmont Station for the 20th Anniversary events. Pours a clear golden hue with a medium white head. A big sweet resin nose, oranges. Very rich tropical resinous hops, mango, oranges, some light biscuit. Also, fairly bitter and aggressive. Smooth though. Very good. mcberko (18068) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 19, 2015
On tap at Bottleworks, pours a clear golden orange with a small white head. Aroma brings out loads of piney hops and biscuity malt to back. Flavour is wonderful, with loads of piney hops that coat the palate, a little bit of resin as well. Super piney and hoppy, but not much bitterness which is surprising. Exactly how I love my IIPAs. Fantastic stuff.
