Thanks to Toby for this 2015 bottle! 10.5% abv.
It pours a pitch black with an inch of tan foam with a wee bit of lacing.
Roasted malt, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, vanilla, bourbon aromas going on. Very impressive nose.
Dark chocolate and roasted malt rule the taste with the vanilla and bourbon not that far behind. It has a nice sweetness that adds rather than subtracts from the overall flavour. A bit of alcohol and thus, some warming.
Full bodied light carbonation makes for a creamy smooth mouthfeel.

Draft 6oz pour at APEX. Dark, thick, jet black pour with no head. Toasty chocolate, smooth bourbon. This is the imperial I'd love to sip on all night. So much flavor going on. Excellent fiery1 (1818) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 26, 2017

Draught @ Apex. 2015 Vintage
Pours black with a nice creamy brown head. Nose is yummy barrel noted. Flavour is rich, a roasted character with chocolate powder and Bourbon. It’s really smooth and damn tasty while not being too sweet.
Growler pour at the 10th Boise Imperial Stout Tasting. Dark inky black pour with a small brown head. Aroma is rich with barrel notes, heavy roast, and espresso. Tastes sweet with vanilla and bourbon barrel notes, some dark chocolate and mocha. Very thick and viscous body. Satisfying. monk191 (2022) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUN 11, 2016
A damn good bourbon barreled beer. Pours a deep thick black with a brown head. Smells amazing, bourbon, dark fruit, vanilla and caramel. Taste is similar to the Goose Island Bourbon Barreled Stout. Thick and creamy taste, with lots of chocolate and vanilla and dark fruits, raspberry and plum. A bit of a liquor bite in the finish. Not quite as smooth as Goose Islands. Had in the bottle.

Thanks rich for picking this up at the brewery. This bottle batch 2015. Pours out slick black with a tall dark beige head. Nice lacing when I swirl my glass. Decent head retention. Nose is thick roasted malts and slight char. Flavor is slightly boozy and nice barrel presence. Lots of roasted malt that start off sweet and ends with a bitter bite. As it warms I get more dark chocolate and definitely becomes more viscous. I love barley browns imagineerz (6) - New Plymouth, NEW ZEALAND - JAN 7, 2016 does not count
had this at beervana Wellington, 2015. This was the most memorable example of many fine brews tried that night. It is one of the richest and complex tasting beers I have ever had, which is saying something. Think of a beer that drinks like a liquer. Well worth trying! mcberko (20253) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 23, 2015
On tap at Growler Guys, pours jet black with a small brown head. Aroma brings out chocolate, whiskey barrels, and some wood. Flavour is super complex, woody, and bourbony, with the barrels imparting a wonderful complexity. Absolutely fantastic stuff. Ferris (17757) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - NOV 20, 2015
Draft - Tons of barrel and bourbon notes with dark roast and dark chocolate. Jet black with a small light brown head. Dark roast, nice bitterness and a nice bourbon notes. Nose is deceptively big and boozy, but taste is nice. douglas88 (9828) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 20, 2015
