COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our Old 8 Porter recipe with a portion of Smoked Malt substituted. The smoke presence is balanced by the smooth chocolate and coffee overtones and malt sweetness, not an over the top Smoked Porter. Great beer to sit around our fire pit with!

Pour on tap at Winterfest 2012, pour was dark brownish black with off white head. Aroma has notes of smokey campfire, some hints of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt notes, pretty nice smelling! Taste is a nice mix of slight smoke mixing into a nice roasted, oat, chocolate taste with some slight coffee, finishing fairly dry and slightly bitter. Nicely done.

Winterfest, 2012. Very smooth palate. Mild smoke aroma. Dry malt and chocolate, with very light smoke in the flavor.

Sampled this at Winterfest last night. A very pleasant smoked beer with a lot of great aroma.

Almost black with an off-white, thick head that lasts. Light smoke aroma, hint of roasted malt, some raisin. Light smoke flavor, sweet, maybe too sweet, good malt flavor. Heavy body, almost silky smooth, no bitterness. I liked how lightly smoked this is, but it’s too sweet for me.

On tap pours dark brown/black with a with a large khaki head. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, molasses, and subtle smoke. Taste has a nice smoke presence which is not overwhelming, with chocoalte, vanilla, coffee, and molasses. Nice.

Tap. Pour is hella dark brown. Light does not pass through this, but it is still an obvious brown color. A fluffy khaki head is present upon arrival, but it fades to a thin skin atop the beer within 1 minute. Sweeter aroma with just a hint of smoke present. Chocolate, coffee beans, and just a hint of salty, smokey meat. Still nice if you don’t like being overrun by campfire in the aroma. Flavor starts with dark chocolate, has small roast malt notes, before finishing slightly smokey and butter. The bitterness is a tad off putting. Overall, this is a decent smoked porter, but I really enjoy more smoke character to a smoked beer.

Pours a rich black with a medium brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, and light, dry, smokey notes. Flavor is very much roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, toffee, and coffee such as the classic Old 8 but also light hints of dry campfire smoke coming through. Rich, creamy body with low to medium carbonation. Differences from the orignal are very subtle making this a very tasty brew.
