Pours dark brown almost black. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and roasted malt. Taste is roughly the same with a bit of sweetness. A bit thin and some bitterness that didn’t mix with the smoothness. detroiter (958) - Euphoria, Minnesota, USA - JAN 27, 2007
Pours a deep dark black, served with just under an inch of brown foam. Okay head retention and lacing. Solid roasted grain in the aroma, though not overwhelming or char-like.
More of the same roasted goodness in the flavor, followed by a husky graininess and some stone fruitiness. Fairly smooth and mellow - I would have believed that it was made with oatmeal. Medium body, moderate carbonation. The moutfeel has a bit of an oily smooth slickness to it that I really enjoyed. Nuffield (4185) - Roseville, Minnesota, USA - AUG 29, 2006
Tap at brewpub in July 2006. Mostly black with a rich cream head. Dark cherry note with molasses, vanilla, roasted vegetables (swede and onions). Drinkable, rich, frothy. Moderate dry bitterness in finish. Lumpy (1802) - Carrollton, Texas, USA - JUL 11, 2006
Tap at brewpub. Neraly opaque body, slight banana, apple, caramel, maple, oak, cereal taste. Very "raw" tasting. elektrogeist (158) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUL 8, 2006
on tap at barley john’s: didn’t see this brew listed on the site so i thought i would add it, since i really enjoyed it. wonderful aroma of dark malts and lots of other unknown goodness. flavor was top notch, with the dark malts in full power but just enough to not be overpowering. this is what an oatmeal stout should taste like.. just wish i could have it more often ;)
