Sample @ ABR 2016. Golden pour with a small white head. Earthy, hedgerow-like hop character on the nose. Gentle spiciness. Sort of chewy, sweet malt backbone seems to be overly dominant. Some toasted grain. Peppery hop bitterness on the finish. Medium body, a bit oily. deyholla (11605) - Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - OCT 13, 2016
On tap at Stanley’s. Pours a clear gold with a near white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy grass and earthy pine with some straw and earthy grain backing. Flavor has earthy pine and grass with an earthy grains backing. arminjewell (9669) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - FEB 27, 2013
Pour on tap at the brewpub, hazy yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of grass, pine, slight wet hop notes going into a slight soapy note, hints of grain, biscuit, bread, slight earth, spice notes come through as well, pretty nondescript. Taste is a mix of soap, grass, grain, hints of pine and earth, some wet hop notes go into biscuit, bread, slight caramel, touch of spice, finishing bitter, slightly dry. bytemesis (8411) - Sunnyvale, California, USA - NOV 2, 2012
Tap. Pours Clear amber, medium off white head, creamy, great lacing. Aroma its quite weak with floral and pine notes. Flavor is a bit stronger with herb and pine, along with some bready malt notes. Lightly sweet and a light bitter finish. Medium body, bit watery. I suspect that this has been around too long and has oxidized. ryanfolty (2553) - Bourbon County, Minnesota, USA - NOV 1, 2012
November 1, 2012 on tap at brewpub. Clear orangish gold pour with little head and spotty lacing. Mild citrus hop and grain in aroma and taste.

Had while camping out for Surly Darkness Day. Might have been a bit too cold, but I was not getting a very big aroma or taste. It was very light on the pine aroma/flavor. pantanap (3366) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - OCT 12, 2012
On tap at the source... Pours a mostly transparent semi-bright coppery hue and topped with a solid frothy white head... Soft citrus hop profile in the, a bit of pale grains and a touch of pear. Not too bright... Flavors are more of the same without any true clean or bright hop profile. Pale grains with a mild sweetness. Touch of grass in the backend. Just shy of medium bodied with an adequate level of carbonation. Somewhat fluffy mouthfeel. BVery (10510) - Plymouth, Minnesota, USA - OCT 5, 2012
Tap at the brewpub. Rich orange pour with a coating white head. Mild pine resin and floral hop aroma and taste. Smooth palate with light carbonation. Very nice.
