On draft at the Brass Tap, poured an amber color with aromas of caramel, toffee, light citrus, and malt. Flavors were malt, caramel, toffee, and a kiss of citrus in the aftertaste. jnkor (477) - Columbia, Maryland, USA - JUN 25, 2013
Aroma is sweet and malty, but somehow light. Appearance is a nice amber with an off white head. Taste is sweet and malty, almost like a light auld ale. Palate is a bit thick with sugar, but still drinkable.

Barley Mow Lamp Lighter Amber is a nice drinking uniquely delicious ale. Pours with a nice head that retains and clings to the glass as it goes down. Bright amber color. Aroma is fresh lemony citrus. Taste is pronounced lemon grass character with a malty aftertaste and unexpected bitterness more like a pale ale. The bitter does not detract from the pleasant flavors. Lamp Lighter Amber is interesting and flavorful through the whole pint (and you will want more.) fluffy (2461) - St Petersburg, Florida, USA - JUN 3, 2013
Standard brick orange red. Aroma is toasty slightly citrus. Flavor is buttery, a bit of pine and wood, with a creamy finish and a bit of oily mouthfeel. Good stuff.

I had this on tap @ the Haymarket Bar in Edinburgh. I’m assuming that this version was brewed somewhere in Britain for cask but am struggling to find out where. Anyway, it pours opaque but with red hues and a nice head. The nose has ginger cake and biscuits perhaps. The taste is more of toffee, still some ginger, with an overall creaminess. The palate is medium bodied, with a tangy texture and a tangy finish. Overall, a good bitter (though it’s supposed to be an amber).
