Thanks nolankowal for sharing this growler. The beer pours to a chestnut caramel colored body with a very thin white head. The aroma is sweet barley, strawberry seeds, and strawberry leaf hops. The flavor is sweet strawberry leaf hops and clean pale malts. "Simple", but quite good. The flavor finishes nice. Sweet full palate. Nutty chocolate. Nougat.

Rating for "Divine Barleywine"... migrated to this beer from "Barley’s Barley Wine" as suggested by <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/ViewUser.asp?UserID=2 />
Honey thick with huge legs, deeply colored a rusty/bronze. Thick, rich & fruity aroma, lush with cherry, pear & cognac. Some citric hopping comes through as she warms. Thick-bodied with a mildly syrupy palate. Great balance here, not at all "hot" with rich malts tempered by a subtle bitterness, all the while with a soothing alcohol presence.

Draft @ brew pub. Copper pour with a yellowed of white head. Aroma of toffee, booezy fruits, caramel malt and light hops. Flavors of bready caramel malt, brown sugar, toffee, earthy hops and booezy fruits. Thick body, quite coating on the tounge...sweet and boozey with a malty/sweet finish.

From the firkin: Opaque brown color with a small beige head. Aroma of caramel malt. Flavor caramel malts and citrus hops. Pretty sweet, but not syrupy. Has some alcohol warmth.

On tap at Alehouse #1. Poured a very cloudy light amber color. No head upon arrival to the table. It was served very cold, which I did not care for. So I let it set for a while to warm up. Smelled of sweet caramel. Taste was FABULOUS. Sweet toffee, vanilla and MALTS. I LOVE malts! A very slight hop finish. I thought this was a beautifuly blended barley wine and I can not believe it is a home brew. The alcohol was very well hidden. DELIGHTFUL!

On draught at Ale House #1: This beer is a lovely dark mahogany color with a thin beige head that does not last very long. Spotty, quick lacing. Rich malt, caramel and fruity aroma. Full body with lots of toasted malt and caramel flavor, along with touches of hops and nuts. The finish is round and smooth with sweet malt and dark fruit at first, followed by moderately bitter hops. Enjoyable overall, as these annual homebrew competition winners tend to be.

Draft sample at Alehouse #1 on 8/8/07 under the name of Divine. Poured hazy brown color with an average fizzy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate tart fruit and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a sticky texture. Heavy balanced flavor with a heavy bittersweet and small alcohol bite finish of long duration. My expectations where met with a standout beer.

Growler sampled at the Pre-RBSG ’Tosa gathering on 6/21/07 courtesy of nolankowal: Pours a transparent dark amber copper with a thin, wispy-lacing off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt with a touch of fresh piny hops. Body starts with nice malty thickness and sweet caramel and light fruity esters balanced with a nice hoppy presence. A good barleywine.

Had this on tap at the alehouse last week. Pretty tastey barleywine. It had a real solid malt background but still had a light citrus to back it all up. This was pretty sweet but it was a solid beer overall.

Bottled. Poured a deeper, garnet-tinted amber. Aroma first found sweet lighter fruits (apricot, passion fruit, and pear come to mind).. dried floral notes accented.. a bit of warm caramel trails.. enjoyed it much! Flavor had a sweet, decidedly English feel to it.. sweet fruity base with toasted caramel and medium floral bitterness.. tasty! Medium-bodied with a higher bitterness to it.. decent flow.
