Black ale ,with a nice sized thick ,frothy tan head.
nice malt centered aroma, sorty of toffeeish in character.
Again malt driven taste, semi-sweet, caramel, English toffee , some tingle of hopping below all this but barely there, like "DA" I find a slight smokiness almost in the aftertaste.
Ok on the palate, low carbonated and smooth.
Not my favourite style, but i found this nice and easy to drink.

Pours deep brown with red highlights and a long-lived head. The aroma is sour and musty, with plenty of dark brown bread and a suite of off-aromas that I cannot place. Flavor is again brown-bready, mildly sweet, a bit roasty, but overall unimpressive if not a little bit off.
After the very good Oktoberfest from this brewery, I’m disappointed.
22 oz bottle. Deep roasted barley aroma with a bit of smoke and chocolate/caramel. Clear dark brown bordering on black with a very small tan head. Super smooth mouth feel and a light body that defies the appearance, average carbonation. This is a great example of a "German Black Beer" fresh from the Pacific Northwest. troopie (2341) - Munchen an der Willamette, Oregon, USA - OCT 14, 2007

On tap at The Taphouse. Pours a clear dark brown with a thin and lacy off-white head. Light body with med-light carbonation. Aroma of butterscotch with herbal hops. Sweet dark malt taste with a dry and slightly grainy finish. Enniskillen (2055) - Bakersfield, California, USA - JUL 17, 2007
Body is black with brown edges, thin light tan head. Aroma is lightly smokey, licorice, roasted malts, with a little bit of coffee. Taste is lightly roasted, some caramel, some hazelnut to it also. Could be fuller, but a good beer. philbertk (1873) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JAN 1, 2010

draft @ brewery - clear and dark brown with foamy cream head and minor lacing; roasty and malty aromas with a slight hint of smoke; grainy with a smooth, chewy body; slight smoke in the flavors too with some chocolate and roasted malts; nice texture and overall a very pleasant brew
