can.bought at aeon. good, and very good at under 100 yen for a 350 ml can. has become my go to beer in japan when eating pizza, peanuts or tacos...really anything where the food is the primary taste. malty aroma and taste, some hops present, nice color.

350 ml can bought at Aeon Style in Whampoa Garden, Hung Hom.

Piss light golden colour; One-quarter finger head with residual soapy white foam which fades in 20 seconds; Good sticky lacing with notable slight carbonation; Sweet aroma of light malt, with strong apple juice, rubber, light floral, sugar, lemon and grass; Medium sweet taste of fair malt, with strong grain spirit, cooked corn, floral, syrup, dry bread, light lemon, fair bitter hops and grass; Light body. Watery palate; Mouth feel is thin maltyness in a watery background. A rush of grain spirit, corn and sugar which is overwhelming at first but subsides quickly. Boozy dry-ish, empty with fair lemon to round. Barely okay… Hoppiness is light floral, lemon and grass in nose, same in taste but slightly stronger; Bitterness is light for an abrupt, low astringent sweet light spirit finish; Quite dry after taste. Light bitter to mouth.

Comments: This one is a step better than the awful Topvalu Beer 10°P, but not by much: apple juice nose, strong grain spirit and cooked corn taste, quite sweet but still empty as hell. Not too offensive but I rather have a all-malt beer instead.

Sweet malt aroma. Mostly caramalt flavor with a touch of pine hops, mild bittersweet finish. For this price it’s a probably a better beer imitation than most happoshu’s. Refreshing but probably wouldn’t drink more than one. Drink it cold and fast cos it quickly deteriorates.

Can 350ml (Osaka)
Clear golden color, small white head. Sweet corn-like aroma. Light-bodied. A bit cardboardish, sweetcorn flavor. Typical sweetish supermarket lager with very low bitterness.

Can from Yamaya. ¥154. Nice deep gold, but heqd vanishes instantly and the it looks like ginger ale. Malty nose, slightly fruity, with sweet orange. Sweet malt, fruity, with strong hop bitterness in the finish, though little hop aroma or flavor. Decent enough for the price, but far from really good.

faroeviking (10911) - FAROE ISLANDS - APR 17, 2012
Can, bought in a Maxx Value supermarket in Yanai-shi, Yamaguchi. Clear light golden, small lively white head. aroma of a cheap straw lager like with some sweetness. Thin mouthfeel. flavour is no offense but simple, lightly hoppish like with something malty . Simple but drinkable.

maekchu (3906) - Hirakata, JAPAN - APR 17, 2012
Can from Aeon Kumiyama liquor shop. Thin malt, grass, bit of hop in the nose. Dark straw (very dark for a lager like this), thin head, good lacing. Pretty damn malty with good hop balance. A bit too fizzy though. Very full bodied for a lager. Fairly clean and crisp for a discount cheapie. Made in Korea -- and it’s certainly the best Korean-made beer (despite my moniker) that I’ve ever had.
