Really just an average American take on German style lager but fails. Slightly burnt taste with zero complexity or flavor layering.
Bottle at home. Pours brilliantly clear gold, somewhat sparkling with a medium, frothy white head, long retention with light lacing. Aroma is heavy fragrant earthy and spicy Continental hops, light fruitiness and medium Pils malt. Flavor is heavy earthy and spicy Continental hops and medium bitterness, crisp Pils malt and a dry finish. Light body and moderate, peppery carbonation. Clear yellow gold with an off-white head that settles to a thin film and leaves moderate lace. Aromas of, grain, grass, and malt. Mild hop bitterness with fruit and grassy flavors. Medium body and carbonation, watery mouthfeel and a clean finish. Pretty average.

On tap @ Malibu Sundowner. Light golden orange pour with a white head. Grainy aroma, some grass, and a light floral note. A bit simple and bland. The flavor is pretty grainy as well. Grassy and floral hops, a little too much bitterness, and a hint of citrus. DocJitsu (1992) - Pensacola, Florida, USA - JUL 6, 2013
Pours a light classic golden color with a think white head. A bit more deeply colored than usual Kolsch beers I’ve seen. Vibrant pear on the nose where I’m used to crisp green grape with Kolsch styles. Medium to full-bodied. Nice balance between the wetness and carbonation. Some sweet pear and a bit of green banana balanced with bitter pilsner like finish. The Nelson hops seems to present like Eastern European hops in this beer. More peppery. This is the best Kolsch I’ve had.
