Miles, Brooklyn tap ($6): Pours light brown with a slightly off-white head. Aroma is earth, toffee, and bread. Taste is earthy malts with a slight hop bite. Not too much going on in the taste, but what is happening is quite good. Great bready aftertaste. Very slight bitterness. Extremely easy to drink. The aroma is caramel, light spicy hops.
The appearance is deep amber, white head. The flavor is caramel, toffee, light soap, english hops. Thje finish is light hoppiness, lingering sweetness. Light to medium in body. This is a good representation of the style. Growler from Whole Foods UWS, 07/14/2013. Pours clear, brilliant garnet color, thin white fizzy head, small ring of lacing around my glass. Aroma of dark bread, roast nut, caramel, light pine hop character. Taste is decidedly more hop character, big earthy pine, heavy toasted grain, nice toffee notes with long bitter finish. Good clarity, moderate head that dissolves quckly, rich dark amber color with a touch of red highlight. Grainy malt aroma, a bit of yeasty tang in the nose. Aroma: This one has a nose of caramel, bread, nuts, and toffee
Appearance: It pours a clear dark orange color, coating white head/lace
Flavor: The taste of this one is medium sweet, mostly malt, and has a light spice hop
Palate: The body is light-medium, it has a tingly feel, and a mildly dry finish to it
This one was a solid amd drinkable ESB with a enough of a hop backing to provide some balance to this malt-heavy beer.

Growler from the brewery. Surprisingly strong alcohol quality for the style. Rather bread yeasty upfront with a strong hop finish. Not my favorite Barrier offering so far.
