On Tap at Rattle N Hum, NYC. 12.5.16. Nitro. Very dark brown. Deep smoky aroma, hickory BBQ sauce. Sweet and saucy taste. Light body, sweetish hickory finish, quite flat.

Pine Box Rock Shop, Brooklyn tap: pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is light smoke and maltiness. It seems more like a dunkel than a smoked. Nothing in terms of the intensity of Aecht Schlinkerla for example. Taste is a bit sweet and then goes off with a smoky finish. Not bad.

Pouring at TAP NY 2014. Pours a deep brown to black with a thin tan head. Big smoke, roast, cocoa. Medium bodied, soft smoke, roast, chocolate. Roasty, smoke with a nice campfire note. Long smoke, malt, toast on the finish.

Draft at Alewife Queens - NYC. Pours deep brown with a modest, off-white foam head. Nice roast character, some cocoa, plenty of smoked ham. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Nicely balanced to finish with robust smoked meat, more ham, baking coca, earth. Very nice.

The appearance is deep brown, reddish tinge, off-white head. The aroma is smoky, salty, some maltyness, fruit. The flavor is smoke, slaty, meaty, dark fruits. The finish is smoky, salty, bacon. Medium in body. Nice.

Sample at Ginger Man NYC. Dark mahogany color with a medium thick light beige head that dissipates steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of smoked malt, fruit and hops. Light to medium body with flavors of smoky malt, dark fruits and earthy hops. The finish is burnt malt and fruit. Above average overall.

Draft at Ginger Man. Ooh baby this is a good one. Pours brown with a beige head. Medium smoked malts, with supporting sweet malty notes, faint fruity character, burlap, and wonderful lingering smoked malts. Clean, balanced and super drinkable. Loved it.

tap at gingerman. Pour is dark and opaque. Toasted barley hulls and crisp grain. dark chocolate and prunes on the body. Charcoal and smokey bacon bits come up in the aftertaste. Not quite in style for a dunkel, but damn tasty none the less. Extra enjoyable due to the sub-freezing weather.

Growler from brewery. Clear mber with short-lived head, looks like Schlenkerla. Smokey meaty caramel and bread aroma. Smokey caramel minimal fruit noble grassy medium bitter clean finish. Medium body very slight extra fizziness. Absolutely right on the nugget to my specific subjective beer tastes. Look, I don’t ask for much. Just a nice sessionable smoke beer to drink every day. My local brewery makes TWO FRIGGING AWESOME SESSION SMOKE BEERS!!! WHOOHOOO!!!!!!!
