On tap at the brewpub. Deep dark brown in color with a nice tan head. Malty and hoppy. Well balanced. Nutty. Subtle roastiness. Enjoyable. closey22 (2101) - Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, USA - OCT 7, 2012
Deep ruby brown w/ thin tan head; toasty malt aroma w/ same flavor w/ touch of chocolate, but feels a bit light and acidic; finish is a bit weak, but overall a good beer. MaiBockAddict (1497) - Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA - AUG 15, 2005
Tap at the brewpub. Brown, clear, thin tan head. Roasty carmel fruity aroma. Smooth carmel roasty flavors. Medium body. Malty finish. Jblauvs (1357) - Chester, Vermont, USA - JUL 25, 2010
Dark Mahogany pour with a slim light beige head. aroma is sticky caramel and toffee malt, light coffee bean, immense nuttiness and a flutter of candied hazelnut. Flavor is lightly bitter, extremely light roastiness, lots of nuttiness, plenty of toffee malts, adding a nice sweet element. Good depth of malt, tasty, not overly inventive but very drinkable and satisfying. Hopistotle420 (1177) - Amherst, Massachusetts, USA - JAN 11, 2003
UPDATED: AUG 19, 2003 Deep ruby-brown hue. Small off white quickly dissipating head. Nutty, fruity, lightly toasted malt aroma. Starts mildly sweet. Faint caramel, toffee accents. Light to medium bodied, subtle nuttiness, finishing well rounded and clean. A bit thin for my tastes, but a very drinkable session brown. Finishes with faint hops off in the distance, nicely balanced...

Ruby hued dark caramel sheen. Thin beige head. Light, big bubbled carbonation. Aroma of toasted chocolate and caramel and dry nuts. Soft and gentle with a low carbonation. Rich toffee and dry nuts with a hint of cocoa in the aftertaste. Medium light body. Fairly dry. Low bitterness. Smooth and easy drinking, if thinnish. Finishes with bittersweet cocoa and dry nuts and a thicker body. A good, wholesome version. ericnixon (745) - Portland, Oregon, USA - NOV 13, 2006
On tap at the Barrington Brewery. Nice dark brown, so dark it’s almost black, color. Kind of bitter, but otherwise no real perceptable taste. Very watery! vwsteggie (684) - Paxton, Massachusetts, USA - FEB 13, 2003
Has a dark reddish color with very little carbonation and a roasted smell. Taste is smooth roasted malt and finishes with little bitterness, but is a bit too thin for me. Overall it is a good brew, but I prefer heavier dark beers. PBOYNY (316) - Westchester, New York, USA - APR 22, 2002
nice rich brown ale with nice hoppy finish! try it, the place is lovely right in the Berkshire Mountains! KariCupcake (214) - Lenox, Massachusetts, USA - NOV 13, 2006
Smells better than it looks. Brown beers are generally one of my favorite styles, but this one is weak and thin. Bitter - no hint of caramel like the description promised.
