My friend loves this stuff. I will drink it, but there are plenty of better beers out there. It is smooth, and has a descent flavor, but it isnt anything special as far as Im concerned.

Pours very clear, light orange, almost white head. Light malty aroma. Taste is light malt, some spicy fruity hops. Better than I expected, bit still not my favorite pale ale .

My dads favorite beer. After learning the history of this historical beer it is too bad it is now being brewed by in-bev losing all authenticity.

Bottle; pours clear copper with a white head; aroma is weak with caramel, bread, and some faint hop notes; taste is a bit bland with a little caramel and some floral hints; finish is dry with some light bitterness; meh...

Tap in Osaka. Nice copper-amber pour, creamy beige head, lacing. Not much aroma, a little caramel, malt, hopping. Nicer flavour though, approachable mild caramel and toffee malt. Low bitterness, medium feel, easy over a couple of pints. Had countless time over the years and pleased to see it keeps up and does the job even as my palate keeps shifting.

Bottled at the BA lounge, IAH. This bottle says 5.1% It pours clear amber with a quickly dissipating off - white head. The aroma is sweet, stick, mostly caramel and toffee, toasted brown sugar, candied orange, cherry cola and generic fruitiness. The taste is crisp, restrained bitterness, caramel, toffee, big cola vibe, brown bread, cereal and some dried fruits. Watery mouth - feel and some prickly carbonation. Pretty basic stuff. Drinkable it is, but it is the sort of thing any old dirtbag could brew with a malt extract kit.

I cant believe i havent reviewed this yet, Bass is a good standard pub ale. It is a little light on aroma and taste, with hints of malts and not much else. However it is rather smooth and easy to drink and its not offensive, overall its a pretty decent brew thats worth a try. Originally rated on 11/15/08.

0.33 l bottle @ Finn McCool, Tokyo. Imported by Asahi. No idea about the appearance because it was served without a glass, just the bottle. Taste was mineral and malts. Not really any hops. Interesting but how close this to the original?
