Wish this wasn’t a seasonal! Fantastic dark saison. Lasting head, warm mouthfeel and pepper character. Good balance with malt; so much so that i’d say this drinks like a light saison and only the color’s different. Easy drinking (though I felt the ABV on this one). esjaygee (3902) - Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA - OCT 2, 2012
On tap at Bastone Restaurant/Brewpub. Clear mahogany with a minimal head. Aroma of dark malts, yeast, light chocolate and mild fruit. Taste of dark malts, light chocolate and mild yeast. A touch on the thin side but ok. JorisPPattyn (10113) - BELGIUM - MAY 10, 2012
Dark brown to black beer under a huge dense, dark-cream head. Bit of diacetyl coming through? Little saltiness, and further some dark malts. Clear dark malts, bit of chocolate, or chocobeans. Slick MF, nearly oily. This beer is far from unnice, but to use dark malts in a Saison is in fact a contradictio in terminis. Dogbrick (14300) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 26, 2011
Sample at the brewpub. This beer is a dark brownish-black color with a medium tan head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Somewhat vinous aroma with notes of yeast and spice. Medium body with flavors of grapes, toasted malt, yeast and sweet spice. The finish is fruity and sweet. Above average overall.
