On tap, poured into a snifter. Heavy, rich aromas of traditional banana and clove come through with a distinct candy sugar note. It pours a familiar murky yellow brown with a thin white head that only has a thin, white head that reduces rather quickly and only leaves a light lace on the glass. The taste is a medium high sweet with a medium bitter. The medium bodied, creamy beer has a fizzy carbonation with muted flavors of lemon, banana, and clove as well as secondary notes of bread crust and candy sugar. It’s kinda dry overall with a spicy finish and has a clean, biscuit-like aftertaste. firstsip (733) - Michigan, USA - JUL 14, 2014
Tap. Deep amber. Thinnish. Strong candi sugar nose. Tastes of candi sugar, apricot, bubblegum. ABV very apparent! Hathachips (8) - - NOV 21, 2012 does not count
Nice tasting on the pallet. Smooth finish. 9% BAC but very drinkable. Taste subtly sweet and bitter. Hints of something. Maybe grapefruit? Like this BREWDOGGER a lot!

On tap at Bastone Restaurant/Brewpub. Mildly hazed golden amber with a thin white head. Aroma of alcohol, fruit, yeast and mild candi sugar. Taste is fruity and boozy with sugar, sweet toasted malt and some bready notes. Pailhead (6539) - Rochester Hills, Michigan, USA - JAN 28, 2012
On tap: The aroma consists of fruit, bubblegum, Belgian yeast, apples, and faint spice. It’s a golden orange with a small white head. The flavor starts with fruit, bubblegum, and Belgian yeast. The finish has orange peel and some spicy notes. It’s medium-bodied with mild carbonation. Overall, it’s a damn good Tripel, but my rating is based on my hedonistic liking of Tripels. If Tripels are your thing, this is one worth seeking out.

Golden with thin white head. Floral, citrus, and yeast aroma notes. Sweet malt, alcohol, and citrus flavour notes. Carbonated with slightly sour finish. thegreenrooster (4402) - St.louis, Missouri, USA - APR 13, 2008
Pour is a nice cloudy golden with a large white head. Aroma has decent amounts of candi sugar, yeast and some citrus. Flavor needs some work. Super sweet with candi sugar taking over everything. Finish hides the alcohol well but leave a berry on thei tounge. Average at best. Styles (2014) - Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA - DEC 26, 2007
7-22-06 MBG. Golden yellow, no head whatsoever. Aroma has nice candi sugar and floral hop balance. Flavor much the same but with a spicy alcoholic bite to it, like many tripels. Mouthfeel is flat and oily. Standard tripel through and through, just tripels aren’t my thing. drfabulous (7944) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - SEP 29, 2007
Written up recently in All About Beer, Bastone might be getting some national attention. I went back on a recent visit to see if things had changed. While they know serve the tripel in the right glass (once, all beer was served in pint glasses), they are still on the verge of good beer. This is a decent tripel, golden and slightly fruity. But nowhere near Dragonmead’s local beer, Absolution. drinkallday (20) - Royal Oak, Michigan, USA - FEB 28, 2007
tasted at the MBG winter festival. I really liked this one more than the one from last year. Nice body and flavor with a pleasant aroma. 8-9% is placed nicely in there. Best one I’ve had around in a while.
