22 oz. bottle from jandd1983- thanks again, Doran! 2012 vintage. Pours a deep, inky midnight brown with a few bubbles that fade immediately into absolutely no head. Aroma is very oaky, with warming bourbon throughout; chocolate, vanilla, toasted coconut, and cola. Flavor is mostly the same, but starts less pronounced before the notes start to pop; chocolate, vanilla, oak, toffee, coconut, and mellow bourbon. Light-medium bodied and rich, but man, this thing is flat. Zero carbonation. Hits all the right notes but can’t get the mouthfeel right. I liked it as much as I could have for a completely flat beer. jandd1983 (4550) - Wentzville, Missouri, USA - DEC 25, 2012
Number 1300. It poured a dark brown color with a small tan head. The aroma was of vanilla and a little chocolate flavoring. The flavor was more vanilla with some hints of chocolate. This was a really good bourbon porter. Strykzone (7582) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - NOV 6, 2012
Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. Very dark brown, almost black. Some red. Clear. No head at all. A malty nose with lesser bourbon notes. Dark fruot with cherries. Absolutely no carbonation hete and it is needed. This is so flat! Wood is tasted with that big malt. Some vanilla and bourbon. Hops are barely noted and add a bit of bitterness. Thete is also some harshness from the bourbon. The ABV is not really tasted but warming is felt.
