Very dark with a loose foam head. Aroma is mild citrus lemon with some spices. Flavours are roast malts, fruit and a lemon undertone developing into a citrus finish. Some licourice tang, too. Quite a mishmash of flavours. It works. Spiesy (2337) - Sydney, Greater London, AUSTRALIA - JAN 5, 2004
Bottled. Dark porter styled beer with full tan head. Smooth roasted malts went down a treat. Really easy drinking, which could prove problematic if you found this one on pump somewhere. Garrat (1347) - Suffolk, ENGLAND - JAN 5, 2004
UPDATED: JAN 20, 2005 From a Bottle. This is a rich, dark and malty brew.Despite it’s strength this is very easy to drink. This is one of Batemans better efforts. RobBestwick (963) - Calgary, Alberta, CANADA - JAN 4, 2004

Pleasant chocolate malt and toffee nose. Black hue wtih a lightbrown head. Chocolate, coffee and roasted malt flavours, medium body with a fairly lengthy finish. At last a beer from batemans that I consider to be good.
