Nice combination of crystal and roast character, textbook colour. A bit sweet for my tastes as a porter but a nice smoky finish.

Barwa ciemna jak cola. Ladna bezowa piana dlugo sie utrzymoje. Aromat slodowy z domieszka karmelu W smaku palony slud I calkiem mila goryczka. Caly efekty psuje wysokie nasycenie. Piwko na raz drugim go nie kupie.

Bottle. Dark ruby colour. Malty (roasty and caramelly). Sour fruity (berries and citrus). Spicy peppery hops. Thin bodied. Unfortunately, an unremittingly bitter roast taste, which leads to a dry finish. Not for me. (2008)

Bottle from Co-op in Sutton Bridge. Dark brown with a smidge of black purple. Very little off white head. Chocolate malt aroma with slight grassy hop. Sweet malty taste with bittering hop sneaking in for the finish. Chocolate fudge in the aftertaste. Nice full body. Simple but effective.

Bottle shared at home. Finally the real Dark Lord! Very dark brown with beige head that leaves a small film. Raisins, dried fruits, some dark chocolate, some light cardboard, light spices, dates, old stale coffee. Light sweet and bitter. Under medium bodied. Decent.

En god mørk øl, med smag af citrus og brændt malt, og næsten en humlesmag, i hvert fald bitterhed. God fylde i den, der gør at eftersmagen bliver ekstra lang. Rigtig god "hygge

Bottle at home. Clear dark ruby pour, thin off-white head. Aroma of spices, licrorice, sweet malts, candy sugar and some British yeast. Flavor is slightly bitter, quite sweet sugary malts and spicy. Decent body, decent carbonation.

500ml bottle from Ken Warne local shop, Darlington. Gusher out of the bottle. Black-brown colour with a reddish tinge, tan foam head leaving lacing and nose of malt, roast, dark fruits. Flavour is malty, dark fruity, slight citrus, with coffee, dark chocolate, roasted notes, bready and earthy spicy bitterness. Medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry roasted earthy bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Bottle at the End of an Era tasting at ABC Beers, Den Haag. Poured a clear dark reddish brown with a thin off white head. The aroma is light caramel malt, woody resin hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a light watery resin hop bitter palate and a lingering bitter finish. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Benzai (15611) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - DEC 29, 2015
Bottle @ final old style THT. Clear brownish color, average sized beige head. Aroma is malts, caramel, chestnut. Taste malts, caramel, chestnut, lightly bitter. Average body and carbonation. Almost as good as the other Dark Lord.
