33 cl bottle. Pours clear and golden brown with a deep orange glare. Small tan head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate and roasted malty. Roasted, smooth malty and caramelish. Bitter and slight sweet. Lasting coffee finish. guzgorog (968) - FRANCE - MAY 20, 2014
A oublier ... Bottle that’s been sat for a while in the cellar. Very dark, clear, chestnut brown. Minimal, tan head. Smells like a cheap Easter egg. Tastes pretty much the same. That’ll be the added glucose syrup, then... I don’t get it. I don’t get it with food and I don’t get it with drink. Stop adding stuff that isn’t necessary, just to appeal to people who don’t care what they consume anyway... I can’t imagine Batemans are the only ones, mind. It’s just that M&S do a good job listing ingredients. RichardGretton (4861) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 14, 2014
Bottle. Blackish beer with a nice chocolatey aroma. The flavour is lightly bitter with chocolate and sweetness. Overall a nice chocolatey stout.

Bottled. Dark cola-like color with small fast-disappearing head. Intense aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee. Taste is bitter-sweet chokolate. Very interesting beer. Maybe not enough hops to be ideal.

@ Sergio’s / Louisville KY --- Clear dark ruby mahogany, long-lasting rocky ivory head, larges splotches of lace. Taste and aroma match up very well. Taste begins with sweet chocolate malt, slowly turns over to black coffee for a nicely balanced brew. Not at all overpowering, but, in this case, that is a good thing. weaselkenievil (1609) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2014
Bottle at home. Dark ruby tinged brown with a thin quickly fading tan beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate, coffee, cabbage. Flavour is similar without the cabbage and is a little bit thin, lacking knackers etc. I quite enjoyed it and wouldn’t turn one down. Pours cloudy, dark brown with a short beige head.
Chocolate fudge aroma.
Taste is powdered chocolate, coffee bitter...
Malty, vanilla, cream.
Pretty tasty. Beese (3288) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - APR 24, 2014
Bottle from Tesco, Watford. Poured a dark ruby, with a head that rapidly dissipated; rather like cola. Hideous aroma of fake vanilla, really cheap chocolate and sugars. Similar flavour, absolutely insipid and undrinkable. Couldn’t get much more than half the bottle, before it had to go... an absolute palate wrecker as well. It’s black this one, with ruby port notes and very little head left over once it had sat for about a minute. A sniff brings out chocolate mousse aromas aplenty. This is a smell I adore and I’m delighted by the aroma with dusty cocoa and some coffee as well (although the coffee is fairly well hidden). The aromas are just gorgeous. The flavours are remarkably similar with the chocolate prominent initially and then it becomes juicy with the emphasis on coffee and charcoal. Tasty stuff, but became a little tiresome as I got down the pint.
