Informacje o piwie i warunki degustacji: Styl: brown ale Ekstrakt: nie podano Alkohol: 6,0% Ujawnione składniki: Słód, kawa i kakao. Data degustacji: 20.IV.13 Szkło: Shaker 1/3 pinty Piwo nalane z nalewaka z ręczną pompą. Piana: Brak. Kolor: Klarowne mahoniowe. Zapach: Pralinkowo-kakaowy. Smak: Winna kwaskowość, wyczuwalny pralinkowy alkohol. Wiśnie, suszone śliwki. Tekstura: Ciężkie i gładkie. Nasycenie: Minimalne. Goryczka: Niska Pijalność: Niska. Niestety to piwo mnie rozczarowało. Odniosłem wrażenie, że w browarze tak bardzo się przejęto dosypywaniem kawy i kakao, że ktoś zapomniał dosypać chmielu. To piwo miało bardzo niską goryczkę, co moim zdaniem zepsuło cały efekt. Smak zdominowała winna owocowość i kwaśność w typie kiepskiej parzonej kawy. Szkoda, bo zapach był w miarę obiecujący. Do tego przy zaledwie 6% łatwo wyczuwało się nuty alkoholowe, może ze względu na zbyt niską podbudowę?

Cask Half Pint at Wibbas Down (JDW), Wimbledon, London in Apr 2013 during Spoons Festival - Deep Reddish Brown in colour. Very Malty; lots of chocolate and coffee, caramel, toffee. Hoppy; slight hops. All chocolate and coffee. A good dessert beer; but much TOO sweet for my taste.

A guest ale at Weatherspoons in Arbroath. Black, sweet, and chocolatey. Only the faintest hint of coffee in the background. Medium mouth feel. Smells like chocolate, actually tasted like drinking Hershey’s chocolate syrup. Personally, I like a sweet stouts. I also like coffee stouts. If there was more coffee present, it could have been a GREAT beer, but no... its just above average.

[Cask at the Monk’s Retreat (JDW), Reading] Deep brown with a thick tan head. The aroma is dominated by fake chocolate - like that "chocolate candy" that masquerades as chocolate in kids’ pick ’n’ mixes & in the US. On tasting candy cigarettes (or whatever polictically correct name they’re called now) are to the for, with just a hint of roasted malt behind. It’s redeemed a little by a mouthfell that is rich and smooth without being sticky. Some decent black filter coffee shows up in the aftertaste but it’s far too late to compensate for the sickly candy flavour that still lingers. Not a great beer at all.

Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) in April 2013. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear dark mahogany in colour with ruby highlights and a thin creamy buff head. Sweet aroma of drinking chocolate powder in the long nose. Thin creamy mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malts gives a sweet whack of chocolate brownies and a warming coffee cream liqueur. There is very little in the way of hop resins present in the brief aftertaste as malt dominates the finish with sweet notes of juicy morello cherries, milk chocolate vermicelli and smooth mocha coffee. Tasted more like a Polish chocolate porter in style, rich and very heavy going. Just loved it, well recommended.

Leighton (22327) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 21, 2013
Cask at Penderel’s Oak, JDW - London. Pours clear, red-brown with strong, creamy beige head. Lots of cheap cocoa in the nose. Light to medium sweet flavor with lots more of this cheap, quasi artificial chocolate character, light roast, faint earth. Light bodied with fine, creamy carbonation. Sweet finish with more sugary and cheap cocoa. Yeah, lots of this low-quality, fake cocoa. So so.

Dark brown. Creamy white head. Very smooth beer. Bitter aroma with notes of roasted coffee and sweet chocolate. Too much sweet chocolate flavour for me. Bitter finish.

Rune (13508) - Tromsø, NORWAY - APR 14, 2013
Cask by hand pump at the Welkin, served in one-third pint glass at a tray. One patch at the surface of a deep, dark ruby coloured body. Poor lacing. Mocha chocolate to the nose, alright. Gentle mocha taste added by coffee and a little touch of tartness from berries towards the ending. Medium bodied. Enjoying after breakfast drink (Liverpool, 08.04.2013).
