One of England’s most popular seasonal beers. A full bodied copper colour beer brewed with Maris Otter malts and English hops. The aroma is rich and fruity. Goes well with poultry dishes.

Brun klar farge med lavt beige skum. Lukter svakt av maltsødme. Søtlig i smak og medium bitter avslutning.

(bottle) Clear, dark amber to brown colour with a short and tanned foamy head. Caramelly malty nose with nutty and toasted accents, some off-flavours (sulfur) in the background. Mildly sweet and slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a modest carbonation. Toasty malty taste with notes of caramel, nutty flavours, restrained to none fruity accents; quite dry bitter-sweet finish. Quite boring. 06.II.16

Mahognibrun klar med lavt beige skum. Lite lukt, noe lett brent karamell. Lett. Søtlig brent start, bitterheten kommer godt fra mitten og ut.

500ml bottle at home, thanks to Sarah. As ’Batemans Rosey Nosey’, 4.7%, BB Dec 2016. Santa, snow, reindeer and a snowman on the label, just in case there’s any doubt about this being a Christmas special. Orange brown, clear, lightly sparkling with a thin dense tan head. Aroma is dusty, emptied vacuum, cat paws, pencil sharpenings. Body is medium, a touch foamy, low-ish carbonation. Taste is resin, spice, a little metallic all set against a peanut brittle malt background. Finishes dry and bitter with some woody cinnamon. A bit metallic.

Enjoying this in July in New Zealand - mid winter as intended for this beer. It’s a shame I can’t share it with some Christmas Turkey and dinner! Malty well balanced and not too in your face.

Erzengel (9617) - Wuppertal, GERMANY - JUL 7, 2015
* Nettes karamellig-dunkles Bier. Schöne Ale-Noten, frisch und tief. Dunkle Früchte, moderat bitter-aleiger Nachgeschmack. Lecker.
