Golden citrus and smooth. It definitely is, but it's also thin and grape fruity. Not sure I'm a huge fan.

At the Red Cow Richmond, a citrusy brown bitter, malty and twiggy but with a lemony twist. Grumbo (2940) - Ipswich, Suffolk, ENGLAND - JUN 22, 2016
Cask at the Batemans visitor centre, Wainfleet, Lincolnshire. Pours a bright golden colour with a lasting white head. Aroma of light hop and malt, sweet caramel, light citrus and corn. Fairly heavy sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Finish is sweet with light bitterness and a touch of sour. Good ale. Aroma: grain, bread malts, light caramel, some floral hops. Appearance: dark, clear gold, small, frothy, white head. Taste: light sweet. Palate: initially sweet malts, soft carbonation, malty, then falling off into some undefined bitterness. Overall: OK Golden Ale, initially quite liked the palate but it faded too quickly. Pint at Cat & Canary, Canary Wharf. BlackHaddock (7312) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 8, 2012
From BA: May 2006. Long time fan of this beer, but never reviewed it until now for some reason.
The review is from a tasting at the bi-annual beer festival at the Bateman’s brewery. They put on 5 cask beers of their own and have another 15 barrels from small brewers also available to drink.
Hand-pulled in the base of their famous windmill, my pint glass looked beautiful, a light amber, golden beer, this was clear and had a good off-white head sat on top.
The Styrian and Challenger hops give it a good hoppy aroma and the taste is crisp, sharp and refreashing.
The flavours stay in the mouth, with bitterness coming through towards the end.
A great beer, from a good brewery.

Warning! Early amateur rating! On tap at the Sun Inn, Kelvedon. Reminds of Oakham JHB - fruity and zesty. Light palate. Not that bitter. Nice.
Cloudy golden with a small white head. Clean aroma of peach and citrus. Dry and grassy hop flavour. fiulijn (20491) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - DEC 9, 2008

Hazy golden color. Light aroma, hoppy, a bit citrusy and grassy. Malt flavor; the mouthfeel is dry, also because of the very strong bitterness; the hops are a bit citrusy and resiny and grassy. Pleasant, even if not very complex.

Cask. Golden colour, mediumsized creamy white head. Aroma is nectar, grass, some wood and that’s about it. Flavour is grassy, fruity, hoppy and yeasty. Some eggy notes too.
