COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer is from the Batemans 30 year old Barley Wine recipe and the flavour has been matched with bottles which had been left undiscovered for 31 years only to be found in 2007. The 2012 Vintage was brewed with barleys from a set of unique growing conditions including a prolonged dry period followed by very wet weather, producing grains which impart crisp, dry, rich flavours. It is packed full of succulent malt and after maturing in oak, has flavours of plums, port, malt, brandy, vanilla and almonds

Restrained aroma in an amber pour. A complex flavour profile that is enhanced by its subtlety. Proof positive that mistakes can turn out for the best.

With a taste of brown sugar, almonds, and a little bit spice. Smooth mouthfeel. With 7.5% alcohol but the rase of alcohol is well hid.

BlackHaddock (6774) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - JUL 22, 2016
22nd July 2016: 500ml bottle number 062400 of 2013 has been chosen by me to be my 6,000th rate on this site. Poured slowly into a Batemans Pint Sleeve glass at home and shared with no one! Chestnut red body with a fast fading off-white head. Mild red wine traces in the malt led aroma and taste. I love these British old school, winter coal fire, type of brews. Pull up an armchair, put your slippers on and sip this while listening to the wind whistling past the windows. Rich, smooth and Port like on the palate, mini-wood notes and a nutty hint within a proper, well made beer. Loved it.
