"This is a specially crafted rum porter. Rich, dark and warming, it is perfect for those cold evenings. Hints of rum mingle with coffee and vanilla flavours, a truly wonderful old style beer."

Bottle at sister-in law’s house. Poured beautifully and looked gorgeous in the glass. A really rather delicious porter. Coffee and vanilla that was balanced against an underlying savoury flavour and texture. The toasted malt was present and the mouthfeel was very good. Overall this was very good and I would happily have this again.

Cask. Black with ruby highlights. Burnt malts (caramel, toffee, coffee, vanilla). Very fruity (damsons, plums, berries). Rum notes. Sweet. Very smooth. Drying roasty finish. Very drinkable. Nice!! (2008)

Bottle from Booths, Media City. Extremely dark with a very thin off-white head. A good winter warmer, although al little complex with its darker malt character. Its aroma is lightly roasted, some washiness, sweet and rich, and these latter aspects also apply to its taste. Here there’s also hints of marzipan and a light toasted taste

500ml bottle @ Shrewsbury Beer Share, Feb 16, courtesy of Mike. Pours dark brown, small tan head. Spicey pepper aroma. Taste is peppery, old kitchen spice cupboard with added must and tobacco tin on the finish. Not for me.

Towey1989 (3165) - Stoke On Trent, Staffordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 11, 2016
Cask at The Green Dragon, Leek (JDW) A deep brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma of chocolate, some coffee, slight toffee, a little raisin, red berries, maybe some liquorice and subtle molasses. Taste of raisin, red berries, some prune, chocolate, slight toffee, a little liquorice, a hint of coffee and subtle blackberry. Medium bodied and soft carbonation. A dry, chocolatey, fruity bitterness in the finish. Wouldn’t say it’s rum but this is quite fruity, lots of red berries and dark fruits mixed with classic porter characteristics. Ok.

Decent tasty porter you can relax with by the fire in a dark pub on a cold evening.
Black body with a fine tan head. Ok intensity in the aroma. Medium body and a soft carbonation. Toffee, quite roasted and some crystal malt in the flavor.
[Handpull at J.J. Moon’s (JDW) in London, England]
