Can. A dense, finger-thick white head forms over a clear golden colored body. The aroma has cooked vegetables, some pale malts and a touch of generic fruityness. Medium body, pretty dry, with a nice carbonation. Grainy, fruity flavor with some cooked vegetables and wet cardboard. A faint bitterness towards the end. Not very good this one. 140117

Can. (as Tesco Premium Lager, 5%) A clear, slightly pale golden beer topped by a small, white head. Grainy and malty on the nose, quite sweetish, with a touch of fruits. Malty-sweet, grainy and quite weak flavor with a quite pleasant bitterness. The bitterness is actually the best part of this beer, else it’s too grainy and sweet, also in the finish. Medium body. Decent, and sort of quenching even though it’s on the sweet side. Don’t see any reason to re-visit though. (081220)

500ml bottle (Alko Arkadia, Helsinki)
Rich gold, nice persistent tight spongy-to-rocky head, looks good. But the bottle is a pale green, so an automatic -1 for not taking care against getting light-struck. Woh, as I pour there’s a huge limey aroma, this reminds me so much of the Russian Efes, it’s almost an exact mimic. Corniness comes out a bit later too, and that’s still from a distance, I’ve not put my nose near it yet. Closer up, it’s a bit blander. Taste, again, reminds me of the russian Efes: blandish malts, cornyish if anything, metallic copper/bronze hops. Less limey though, and a bit heavier and fuller, that is sweeter, in the palate. Pretty bad pale coloured lager, but at least it has some character, and isn’t a disaster. Finish sweet and corny and bronze again. Ergh, 70ml down, I wonder if I can make it through the whole 500ml...

50cl can @ home shared with Thompson. Clear golden color, full white head. Smell is just a bit malty. Taste malts, lightly some bitter. Low body, low carbo, lightly sticky texture.

Coming from the Southern part of the Netherlands I’m obligated to say that I love this beer :) Honest rating: just another mass produced pilsener. Nothing wrong, nothing spectacular.

Pale yellow pour with a white head. Straw-like aroma with a bit of pale malt, cereal, and sweet grain. Strong garbage aroma with a bit of lemon sourness. Quite metallic on the palate. A bit of apple sweetness, some cereal, straw, and grass. Light malt notes and sour grain. Quite bad.

AS Bavaria Classica @ Italy. 66cl bottle. Pours clear gold with a off white head. Nose is moderate malty and hoppy. Grain and hay. Quite dry. Watery mouthfeel. No off flavors but quite boring.

As Bavaria Holland Beer. Light grassy aroma. Gold color with decent white head. Starts with malt, thin to medium bodied, as carbonation leaves, the malt dominates, and then some hop arrives. However, the sweetness seems a bit much for the amount of hop. Drinkable, but there are many better pilseners. Chacon son gout.

Bottle. Pours a clear golden with a small frothy white head that diminishes quickly leaving good sticky lacing along the glass. The aroma is a skunky corn malt. Thin mouthfeel with a skunky corn malt and metallic finish. Not much going on with this one.

Tin, 500ml from One Stop, Cheltenham. Pale yellow gold with fizzed head. This is the 5% version. Sweet vanilla malt, thin with a chemical, chalky type note. Little substance other than malty sweetness. Dodgy.
Earlier Rating: 12/25/2007 Total Score: 1.6
Bottled, 330ml, pasteurised. Tesco Premium Lager. Gold with white head. Thin malty lager, quite herd on the palate but then moving to a sugary sweetness. not good at all.
