COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark ale, fermented in the bottle.
Inspired by a Breughel painting, “The Flemish Proverbs” (1559), in which several Flemish proverbs are depicted amongst which is the expression "He’s a pilaarbijter" ("pillar biter"), which means, ’He’s a hypocritical man.’

Sampled on tap at La Trappe. I really enjoyed this brew. Has a light malty flavor and a beautiful color and a clean on the palate.

Dark amber beer hazy low carbonisation with medium sourness and low sweetness an "ancient" flavor, interesting!

Robe brune, reflets ambrés, mousse moyennement persistante. Nez discret sur un pointe de chocolat, d'épices et de café. Bouche acidulée, sur la café amer, fine bulle, longueur moyenne et finale abrupte. Une brune assez simple.

I wasn't too impressed by this Dubbel. It's not very outspoken, not much special.

Bottle from The Bottle Shop, Brugge. Amber-brown, little head, and some sediment. Has a strength to it, some sugary-bready pale malts behind this with a drab but palatable sweetness. Some fruit is evident in its nose.

Malty and syropy nose. Pale beige large head. Clear brown color. Malty roasty taste with some syrup and hops.

Zilverenmaan (315) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - NOV 26, 2016
Redbrown ale with big but shortlived head. Taste of caramel, coffee, yeast and something fresh ( spices or hops? ) No bitterness though. Slightly oily with lively carbonation. It’s a nice and even complex brew albeit rather watery.

Botella 33 cl tomada en junio 2010 en el Lupulo. (r271). Fcpref 22..07..2011. Lote A022. Sabores maltosos algo dulces. Cuerpo medio con 6.5 vol. No está mal.

6.5% ABV bottle from Beer Museum, Brugge, Belgium. Hazy copper coloured with a red fruity and cola flavour followed by a sugary sweet toffee and cherry finish. The flavour is a little ‘fake’.

Slap, waterig vlak bier. Niets spannends aan, geen karakter, niets. Ik kan deze niet aanraden.
