COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As days get shorter and sleeves get longer, Baxter Brewing releases its fall seasonal, Hayride Autumn Ale. A generous portion of two rye malts give the beer a full body, bready flavor, and subtle spiciness; while toasted malts provide a touch of sweetness and a rich, almost reddish hue. New Zealand Pacifica and Pacific Jade hops balance Hayrides maltiness and suggest notes of oranges and tropical fruit. Finally, we cold-condition the beer on oak, with light additions of ginger, black pepper, and orange peel, bringing out the spiciness of the rye and rounding out the soft sweetness of the beer. Hayride will give a touch of warmth for those cool fall nights, while remaining deliciously drinkable.

12oz can into a switchback pint. Pours a dark orange brown/red with decent foamy head to cover. Aroma is spicey, bourbon aged, and malty. Taste is spicey, excitingly so as there seems to be so much bouncing around, as is the pepper, citurs, oak charateristics, and the hop presence. Almost too much though for a harvest, I dont think I was ready for all of this. But after endulging this seems to be just fine by me. Baxter is one of the next up and coming micro brews out of Maine. A fine brew here.

Pours a hazy brown from a can. Aroma is a mix of caramel, brown bread and orange. Flavor is primarily the spicy rye with a touch of orange and caramel. Thin. Good beer.

Single can from Julios. Re-packaged as "Hayride Spiced Rye Ale". Pours out a murky amber with a thick frothy light tan head. Good lacing. Pleasant herbal-spice aromas. Flavor profile is very good. Peppery rye, piney hops, ginger spice, vanilla, caramel malts are all well balanced. Short bittersweet spicy finish. Reminds me of a light bodied Arrogant Bastard or a Belgian amber.

Can, unsure of date, assumedly fairly fresh, drunk 1/13/16.
Highly clear, light amber to golden body is topped by a medium-sized white head that quickly fades to a ring.
Light herbal/grassy hops with a touch of juju fruit-like character, some rye spiciness and a touch of iced tea character. I think I smell the ginger, which does actually lift the aroma up somewhat, as the hops are not present in very high quantity. Yet nor is there anything wrong with whats here (dont get any oak, and the spices are not overdone at all). No alcohol or flaws.
Very straightforward in the flavor, moderately sweet, with various spice notes from rye, hop, pepper, ginger, etc...A touch of light butteriness from the oak, with herbal and grassy hop notes on the end and low bitterness overall. Quite homogenous, actually. Having not read the deScription, I didnt realize there were any adjuncts in here at all. Carbonation is moderate with no alcohol noted.

Drank from a pint glass, poured into a pint glass Thank you Kevdawg... tastes like another red ale, not a spice/herb/vegtable.

355 ml can. Pours a cloudy copper-amber with a creamy, resilient beige head. Aroma is wood, pepper, caramel and roast. Flavor is pepper, caramel, roast, spice. Finish is roast, caramel, spice, herbal. Dry. Lingering earthy notes. Medium to full body, velvety mouthfeel and average carbonation. Very surprising.
