Sample at Snallygaster DC event on October 13th, 2012. Really tasty berliner weisse, even though it’s so low in alcohol which is different to me. Brett adds a nice funk on top of the slightly sour beer.

How: Bottle 330ml, consumed with many months of age on it.
The look: Medium-cloudy yellow-blonde body topped by a quickly dissipating white head.
In long: The moderately bretty nose is very farmhouse, horse-blanket and with a base of typical lemony Berliner weisse showing. In mouth the beer is a bit thin (it’s a 3% brew) but it is not watery and the carbonation is appropriately relaxed and thus doesn’t punch holes in the thin body. Taste lets the base Berliner weisse show more than in the aroma. There is the typical lemony-wheaty and moderately acidic classic Berliner Weisse signature. There is also a drity funky farmhouse horse blanket character. This is a dry beer and the tartness is in the low-medium range for the style. This beer is exactly what I expected from the name, a faithful classic style German Berliner Weisse with the funk cranked up a bit. It may sound like I just want to show-off how that I know a lot about beer by using big words, but I really like the taste of Brettanomyces Lambicus hops.
Extremely lemony nose and flavor. Full of both. Chewy funk is there too. Wheat tart lemon well carbed. Well done Berliner.

A: Pours a light, light opal ale with haze and soooo much foam. The egg white foam overtakes the globe after about five ounces of pour, and the beer takes about five minutes before this dies down and leaves a thick sheet of the same. No lace.
S: Smells a bit tart with some earthiness and makes me think of warm nights and refreshing beer gardens.
T: Light grain ale with a slight tartness, but this is overwhelmed by the brett. A bit of a mineral finish and some bland grains.
M: Light and nearly flat at this point with the thick soapy finish I associate with heavy Brett.
O: I dig it, but not more than the classic.

Bottle to glass. Pours a hazy pale yellow color with a bubbly white head. Aroma is an astringent sour character, very dry. Flavor is extremely tart and citrusy. Light in body with an oily texture that coats the tongue with a very sour finish. Quite tasty.
