COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This original Leipzig beer specialty lends us the name for our brewery. Gose is a regional beer specialty that was brought to Saxony-Anhalt in the year 1738. Originally Gose comes from Goslar, a small town in Lower Saxony, and the river “Gose” in this town. This beer specialty has a refreshing, slightly sour taste and is ideal for quenching your thirst. Gose is brewed with the additional ingredients lactic acid, cilantro, and salt. Gose is a top-fermented beer with 4,5 Vol. % alcohol and 10,8 % wort. You can enjoy it in different variations.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours lightly hazy medium golden yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lightly tart lemon, lime, pear, red/green apple, white grape, melon, coriander, white pepper, citrus zest, sea salt, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, coriander, salt, and pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lightly tart lemon, lime, pear, red/green apple, white grape, melon, coriander, white pepper, citrus zest, sea salt, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate lactic tartness and mild herbal/grassy/peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart lemon, lime, pear, red/green apple, white grape, melon, coriander, white pepper, citrus zest, sea salt, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, grass, light lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, coriander, salt, and pale malt notes; with a great malt/tartness balance, and zero puckering flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from tartness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, fairly acidic, and lightly sticky/saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.6%. Overall this is an excellent gose! All around great fruity/acidic yeast, coriander, salt, and pale malt notes; very smooth and refreshing to drink with the mellowly acidic/drying finish. I knew this was not going to be that sour, but the amount of coriander presence was surprising(but not overwhelming). Not overly salty, just the right amount. The classic German ones are always quite a bit different than the American versions. Very well balanced all around flavors, and very flavorful for the low ABV. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

0,33 l bottle from Beer Supreme, Oldenburg. Unclear golden in the glass with a small fast fading head. Salty smell with some orange sourness in the background. Taste is the same, smooth easy drinking refreshing stuff. Some pale malt and caramell in the second part. Nice.

Not as sour as some of the new americican variations but very good. Salted notes are more evident. Wish i had a few more of these

On tap at , Gasthaus und Gosebrauerei Bayerischer Bahnhof, Leipzig, 14.10.17. Hazy orange with a white head. Salt, grapefruit and some melon in the nose, mildly salty and very mildly lactic taste. Light body, light fizz, some tarty finish. Very quaffable and pleasing.

From Apr 2008 I got this in a trade with nutbrown. Thanks Alan! This pours from 16.9 oz bottle a cloudy orange brown with a good 2 finger head of foam. Bottle conditioned? Yep. No doubt about it. It has some nice sticky lacing too. The smell is all spicy with a ton of coriander hitting my nose. I also get a good dose of lemon citrus. The taste is first spicy from the coriander but I am also getting a good earthy malt and bready flavour along with a touch of funk that compliments the spice nicely. The finish has a slight sourness to it and that's working for me. Pretty light bodied and the carbonation is also on the light side...man, this is a really tasty and oh so drinkable & sessionable brew. I love it! Btw, I *just* poured the last of the bottle and took another sip and I'm just getting a smidgeon of malty sweetness that I didn't notice before. Another added treat to an already most enjoyable brew. Thanks again, Alan!
