Dark brown color with a small head. Dark bready aroma with some caramel. Dusty, dry grain flavor, yet fairly rich. Bready. Full body. Oakes (18167) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUL 15, 2015
Chestnut colour. Sweetish, mostly toffeeish. Straightforward bock, sweet with a touch of boozier soy sauce character in the finish but overall pretty by the book, and not bringing anything special to the table. beerbastard (844) - Mesa, Arizona, USA - SEP 24, 2014
12oz. bottle. Thanks Mark! Dark brown pour, not much head. Weak nose. Semi sweet malty with some chocolate in the background. Mild hop balance. Smooth with a nice body. Easy to drink, not quite as rich as I would expect, but, very clean. mt_glass (6) - Montana, USA - SEP 2, 2014 does not count
Pours a dark but clear toffee with a short lived off white head.
Caramel, chocolate, and a hint of toasty aromas abound.
Well balanced sweet maltiness with mild hop bitterness on the back. Full bodied but not chewy and moderately carbonated enough to cut through the malty flavors. SHIG (4963) - Wasilla, Alaska, USA - SEP 22, 2013
Bottle thanks to Jake65: Poured a brown with reddish hint, head was thin bubbly beige. Aroma is dark malts and slight veggie. Taste is sweet malty with hints of chocolate/toffee, just enough lively hops.

Reddish brown pour with a dark head. Malty, fruity and sweet. It is a decent beer. RobertDale (6649) - Lansing, Kansas, USA - APR 27, 2012
12 ounce bottle thanks to jake65. Pours a reddish brown with an average biege head. Aroma of sweet malt, dark fruit, and toffee. Taste is similar. Faint hops. Nice. pellegjr (396) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - APR 23, 2012
Bottle courtesy of jake65, thanks! Pours deep oak w/ light off white head, rich raisin-y mid malt aroma with some smoky notes, full sweet candy malt throughout, medium-bodied, nice rich sipper jake65 (3978) - Meridian, Idaho, USA - MAR 12, 2012
Bottle: Pours a chestnut brown with a thin beige head. Nose is lighty sweet; malts, toffee, and faint dark fruits. Tastes on the sweet malty side, akin to what I remember from the other Bayern doppelbock. Toffee, brown sugar, dark fruits, and toasted malts. Not bad at all. Pretty cool to see a tribute to the Bakken (currently employed right in the middle of it), but a little bummed it probably won’t be distributed to North Dakota...
