COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Originally brewed in winter of 2011 to help Snowbowl commemorate 50 years in business, this Wintermärzen was intended to just have a few runs. However, by popular demand, Bayern is offering this decoction-mash brew for more ski seasons. Groomer is now hitting the slopes in 12 oz. bottles! Bayern does not recommend drinking while skiing, though... you might spill your beer!

Bottle. Nice deep copper orange, frothy beige head. Low aroma of grainy caramel. Same flavours on the palate, grainy caramel, a little bready perhaps. Just okay.

after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - FEB 5, 2013
Draft at NCBC. Pours a murky and very dark mahogany. Impressive coloration. Loose filmy tan head. Light sheety lace. Virtually no nose, good or bad. Creamy medium body with subdued carb. Light toasty caramel on the mid palate but not a lot of other flavors showing. Mild finish.

Bottle:   Ruby in color, thin to moderate foamy tannish head, little lacing.   Soft biscuit and bready nose.   Heavy biscuit on the tongue, bready, slight cough syrup like qualities.   A bit too sweet and bready at times.   Moderate to full body and mouthfeel.   Hard to even finish a 12oz bottle of this.   Too bready, biscuity, sweet, and with too much cough syrup.

Bottle in Seattle. Thanks Andrew (and Eugene for your rating that inspired us to open this tonight). Fizzy offwhite foam, quickly dissipates to a soapy ring. Dark brown cola with clear edges. Construction isn’t particularly German, under the yeast especially. Malt is a nice dark continental flavor, a little roast. A touch sweeter than expected. Eugene, I agree that this is surprisingly good (unknown US brewery doing a German style? Usually bad) but man I disagree on the final score. Not bad.

Green apple like all of their beers on the nose caramel and some bread. Pours hazy golden amber. Thin head. Flavora of caramel and green apple. Tangy crisp hops. Unremarkable.

Bottle. Pours a rather dark brown color with a small light tan head on there. Nose is very light for me, with only hints of bread and toast to it. Taste is also pretty light, though stronger, and comes off as a bit sweet, nutty, and toasty. Light drink, but nothing remarkable.

Bottle picked up at Total Wine. A little out of season, but still hanging out in the seasonal section for pocket change. I’m in! Football season beer during a baseball game. Not my first experience of this type this year. Pours much darker than expected. A copper brown, with a patchy head. Soft nutty grain aroma. Flavor is pretty nice actually. Some nutty character to match the aroma. A pleasant malt bill. A lighter beer, but has a warming quality to it. Not the only one to feel like this little beer was quite the surprise. The flavor is very nice, and a very pleasant palate overall. Pretty good, and exceptional for the style.
