Bottle received from Kevin. Pours dark brown with a small, creamy beige head, short retention. Moderate rich bready malt, caramel and dark fruit notes, light earthy and spicy hops and bitterness with a sweet finish. Medium-full body and medium carbonation. poisoneddwarf (2690) - Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho, USA - SEP 1, 2017
12 oz bottle. Aroma is malty with notes of caramel, chocolate, wet hayfields, toast, dark fruit. Looks like a brown ale or even a porter with how dark it is. Pours weirdly and extremely dark brown with a one finger beige head with good retention. Taste is malty sweet with virtually no bitterness; ends with a light tartness. Pretty good. 3fourths (9367) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - NOV 20, 2016
UPDATED: NOV 23, 2016 Dunkel brown and clear with a tan colored head. Aroma is malty and simple coming across as caramel and malt extract syrup, nuts and fall leaves, with faint oxidation as copper pennies / metal. In the mouth it’s medium bodied, off-dry and malty with some more interesting dusty baked bread and autumn-spice qualities. Plump and savory mouth feel and quality flavor balance in the finish. dwyerpg (6496) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - SEP 16, 2016
Aroma and color is straight dunkel. A slight caramel sweetness as well that blurs the line. The finish is thinner like a marzen but it’s a strange mixed style beer. Barreras (1689) - Diamond Bar, California, USA - DEC 16, 2015
Pours a dark caramel color with a hay aroma. Taste is cereal, malty, with a caramel sweetness in the aftertaste. A slight bitterness in the aftertaste.

12 oz. bottle, pours a deep dark amber brown with a small white head. Aroma brings out toasted malt and some herbal notes. Flavour is pretty herbal, with toasted nuts, herbal notes, and biscuity notes. Pretty well-balanced - very lagery, full of corn and bready notes. Decent. stevoj (5876) - Boise, Idaho, USA - NOV 17, 2014
Looks like a dunkel, tastes like a marzen. See through dark brown with initial foamy beige head. Sweet malt aroma with a hint of roast grains. More sweet malt taste, syrupy consistency, sweet finish. Lovely! Darkmagus82 (2303) - - NOV 6, 2014
Served on tap in a pint glass
Appearance – The beer is served a deep copper color with a one finger head of white foam. The head has a fair level of retention, fading to leave a lighter level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the beer is heaviest of caramel sweetness as well as a decent sum of a roasted malt smell. Along with these aromas comes some smells of a light caramel and dark fruit aroma as well as a moderate showing of cinnamon and nutmeg spice.
Taste – The taste begins with a quite roasted and spiced flavor with nutmeg and cinnamon present from the start. There is some caramel sweetness as well as a bit of a toffee and darker fruit flavor of raisin and plum. These sweeter flavors fade at the expense of some more roasted malt and bready flavors. The spice also really kicks it up a notch with a rather strong surge of both the cinnamon and nutmeg and an appearance of some allspice. In the end, a rather spiced and roasty taste is left on the tongue; which is actually very nice overall.
Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is on the average side in terms of thickness and creaminess with a carbonation level that is rather average. The moderateness of the carbonation and body are nice for the blend of quite roasted and more spiced flavors of the brew and made for a flavorful, but still easy drinking feel.
Overall – This is a rather enjoyable Oktoberfest overall, that is on the more roasted malt and spiced side but is without much of the sweeter caramel, molasses, and dark fruit flavors associated with most oktoberfests. A nice brew overall and one to try if you get the chance.
