The French word terroir traditionally translates as "that sense of place," which expresses the characteristics that the local environment has on a product. Hand crafted, Coteau Rodaire is a farmhouse-style ale aged in French Sauvignon Blanc barrels. Music, dancing, and bon temps, that’s our terroir.

Pours a golden yellow with big fizzy head. Aromas of wine, yeast, & some funk. Smooth yeasty taste with a touch of wine.

On tap at Avenue Pub (New Orleans). Pours dark orange with minimal white head and no lacing. Aroma: roasted bread, fruit jam, some sauvignon (but not much). Taste: malt, Sauvignon, roasted bread. Kind of disapointed by this one. Too much roasted notes and not enough Sauvignon. Gets better as it warms tough.

Appearance: this beer is a darker copper color, clear, pours with a large off white head that doesn’t stick around for very long Aroma: grape, biscuit, citrus, hints of lemon, some wildness, smells very good Taste: some moderate sourness, I’m picking up a lot of malt grain which is surprising for a saison, very light bitter finish, grass, orange, very light hints of alcohol Palate: lively carbonation, average mouthfeel, very slight bitter aftertaste, feels smooth and frothy on the tongue Overall: I’m very impressed with this beer, it smells really good and tastes good, it goes down very easy like a session beer

The barrels shown to us at the brewery have a thick grape vine banded around the barrels. Pretty cool. Beer smells of white wine, and has a nice white wine flavor. Saison provides the backbone for the wine. Nicely done.
