The Aktien Zwickl Beer is a German Specialty Beer from the Bayreuther Bierbrauerei. The German Tradition of drinking beer from the lager tanks right away, is called in language of the brewer, the term ’Zwick’l’. The beer is brewer according to the german beer law, the Rheinheitgebod from 1516. Unfiltered and full of taste, this lagered brown is really a German specialty. Its foam in combination with brown roasted malts is rather light and you will certainly order a second one.
Serving: from tap at Schultzy’s Sausage.
Aroma: lightly hoppy.
Appearance: average, rocky, white, initial head with fair lacing and fully diminishing longevity. Hazy, dark-yellow body.
Taste: lightly acidic initial flavor and finish with short duration.
Palate: light body, watery texture and soft carbonation.
Overall: great taste and easy to drink. mikedR (1561) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - MAY 22, 2014
Not bad at all. I prefer more of a bock, but this is quite good. Slippery mouthfeel. Malt cereal flavor is slightly roasted. A bit of a kick -- hops? tekstr1der (495) - New Hampshire, USA - MAR 18, 2017
On tap at airport. Cloudy brown poor with half finger of persistent thick white foam. Bread malt and mild dark fruits on the nose. Flavor is similar but more malty than anything. Could drink this for hours. So tasty, only complaint is it’s a little light.

Swing top bottle poured a clear amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of caramel, fruitiness and light yeast. Palate was light bodied and smooth. Flavors of caramel, fruitiness and a hint of yeast with a smooth lingering fruity finish. hayduke (5618) - Eureka, California, USA - JUL 3, 2006
UPDATED: JUN 10, 2008 From bottle in Bayreuth. Poured a very rich looking somewhat cloudy gold with a strong nose of fruits. It came in traditional stone mug so it was difficult to tell exactly what it looked. Very complex aromas, with a hint of smoke. Very hoppy and yeasty in the mouth. Slightly bitter finish. One of the bettter beers I had in my beer tasting odyssey across Germany. Quinten (1062) - zaandam, NETHERLANDS - NOV 13, 2006
yello/orange morning-pee color, no lasting head, fruity sweet malty nose with a solid background of yeast, no reel balance but a "one of a kind" landbeer, DER zwickl !. NobleSquirrel (3438) - Chicago, Illinois, USA - DEC 5, 2011
Draft at Laschet’s. Sweet, Franconian beer! Pours a lightly hazed deep amber with an offwhite head. The nose is nice. Sweet and bready malts, faint yeasty notes and some herbal hop notes that provide a nice floral element. On tasting, nice and soft bitterness with a big malt component. Crisp and clean, moderatly sweet, well balanced. Really nice malt profile here. Great beer. tla (34) - - DEC 23, 2012
Really great cloudy beer.
The only problem is when there’s no good shop around this beer it’s hard to get.
