COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Mocha Machine is a well-engineered endeavor in massive aromatics and rich flavors. Brewed with an array British and German malts, this burly brew is infused with masterfully roasted coffee from Portola Coffee Lab in Costa Mesa, CA. It is then aged on cacao nibs from Equador, adding an awesomely deep dimension of fudge.

(On tap @ Bottlecraft Liberty Station, SD, April 1/17) Pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma of roast cacao nibs, medium-full roast coffee, not too aggressively bitter though, with nuts, semi-sweet dark malts, nice and full. Flavour full of chocolate and cacao, pretty strong dark coffee, somewhat sweet dark malt, light vanilla, low roasted grain character, relying on the coffee for light roast. No alcohol. Medium full body, smooth carbonation. Pretty coffee focused, conveys the mocha flavour well, not exceptionally complex but pretty polished.

Tasting at Matts, 01-10-17
Black color, medium brownish head. Nice aroma of ground coffee, cocoa, truffles. Full bodied and smooth; the dark malt is not too roasty, blends well with the coffee and the dry cocoa, and the moderate sweetness.
Excellent.

650ml bottle @ Matts. Pour a dark opaque brown with a thin beige head. Nose is amazingly good, the coffee and chocolate presently really well. Flavour is a bit rough, as in not smooth. The coffee is there some chocolate. Im guessing the lighter body allows the alcohol to feel more prominent. Its ok, but it could do with some thickening and better masking of the alcohol.

Medium brown. Thin head. This has a heavy coffee aroma, roasty and a bit earthy. Nutty and roasty coffee character...some sweeter caramelly sugars...body is a bit lighter than a 9.2% beer would bring, but still decent. Not a bad beer but this is too coffeeish for me.

22 oz. bottle, pours black with a medium tan head. Aroma brings dry cocoa nibs and espresso upfront, with a touch of roast. Flavour is heavy, with a good balance between the espresso and cocoa nibs. Light roast that probably mostly comes from the coffee. Thick-bodied that coats the palate. Finishes moderately sweet, with a good trace of coffee. Excellent.

Poured from the tap. Near black with beige head. Lots of mocha, excellent blend of espresso with lots of chocolate rounding everything out.

Basic porter dark brown appearance, the smell is not as strong as you would think it would be with Portola Coffee brewed to it, the taste is incredible however, coffee notes cacao, malt are on an equal level. The bitter coffee/chocolate taste is not overpowering, its really a smooth beer. So complex you dont feel the 9.2% ABV.

Aromas of coffee & medium dark chocolates. Flavors are dominated by mild roast coffee with some chocolates following behind. Thin body, light carb. Overall a drinkable, coffee-frowardalbeit one-dimensionalimperial porter that lacks complexity and body.
