Bottle. Pours opaque black, small tan head, some lacing. Aroma is prominently, but not overpoweringly, smoky, light cocoa, molasses, roasted coffee. Flavor is light sweet, medium bitter, plenty of smoke. Medium plus body, creamy mouthfeel. Inching toward meaty. hopscotch (11434) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - DEC 16, 2014
Bottle... Pours dark brown (nearly black) with no head. The aroma is an odd, but pleasant blend of applewood smoked bacon and mocha – dark chocolate and espresso. Full-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and adequate carbonation. The flavor is burnt, acrid, smoky and fairly bitter. Smoky, lightly grassy finish. Bottle shared by Tony. Dark brown pour with a kaki head. Coffee, smoke, and dark roasted malt aromas. Bitter and astringent? With dark roasted malts and black coffee. Bitter. Average body with a below average mouthfeel. Mrnoluv (361) - long beach, California, USA - SEP 5, 2014
Good coffee smell, bitter chocolate, coca taste, almost no sweetness. Beautiful dark brown color. It needs more sweetness but that smoked taste does make up for a little. sirwisa (26) - California, USA - JUL 31, 2014
More hop than anticipated, but that plays amazingly well against the smoked malts. Pairing with a crumble and ice cream dessert.

Tasted Dec 2013 at a Walt tribute. Pours black with brown head and lace. Aroma of smoked malts, milk chocolate, shaved pencil. Moderate carbonation and significant mouthfeel. Flavors of liquid smoke, burnt malts, bitter chocolate, espresso, bitter roots. Overall big, bold, lots of dark rich and bitter flavors. John25 (1291) - Middletown, New Jersey, USA - JUL 5, 2014
Bottle brought to Nj from CA by a buddy. Almost black with a thin mocha head. Aroma is sweet charred malt. The taste adds light sweet chocolate, coffee, and toast. Silky, semi-rich mouthfeel. Very good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone bottleforager (3211) - Gray, Maine, USA - MAR 3, 2014
Pours a deep roasted black color with a finger of khaki foam. The nose has some smoked campfire to it and mingles nicely with the roasted chocolate and heavy grain profile. The palate follows the nose with nice balance between smoked flavors and round soft chocolate roast but its a bit thin on the tail end and the flavors just fall flat. Not a bad beer just a bit underwhelming in all aspects. Not much complexity. douglas88 (9795) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 8, 2014
Bomber from Nick, thanks. Pours a jet black color with a medium white head. A smooth mostly chocolates, some smoke nose. The flavor is a pretty big roast, smoke, oats, light dark fruit, some metallic bitter dark chocolate that reminds me of Guinness Special Export, more smoky sweet goodness in the finish. Sweet brown sugar beef jerky. Very nice. A good palate. Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - FEB 1, 2014
500th Imperial Stout tick. Fitting it is with a stellar beer such as this. Yes!
22oz bottle courtesy of GT2. It pours with a deep dark mahogany colored body that supports a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up pure yumminess with dark roasted malts, some toffee, a thicket of malts and chocolate as well as silky smooth and light bacony smokiness. All this is very well balanced and integrated, intoxicating aroma. The taste does not disappoint as it delivers malt and chocolate brownie sweetened dark roasted maltiness, a sliver of a toffee sort of note that is pure yum and then smooth bacon smokiness that is at just the right level to create flavor harmony. Wow! Well executed.
