Leighton 10K tasting at Bruce’s pad. Thanks to Colin. Yellow gold beer, light haze. Small bubbly white head. Palate is light and airy with very fine carbonation. Airy pale malt, mildly sweet. Resinous hops, little skunk. Good hop spice. Touches of lemon balm and pine and a little citric peel. Light dry finish. Bitterish linger. Caused 2 days of bickering between Colin and Paul. What you could call a room divider!
Bottle shared in London - many thanks to Coleen for this freshie. Pours clear, yellow-gold with a frothy white head. Great nose, lots of grapefruit, some tangerine, lemon rind. Light to medium sweet flavor with strong bitter grass, pine needles, lots of rind, pith. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Quite bitter on the finish, more grass, rindy citrus, light warming alcohol. The bitterness in the aftertaste is a touch abrasive. Beautiful aroma but the flavor doesn’t follow on well enough. Decent. Theydon_Bois (20628) - Hazlemere, the lower Xhitlerns, Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - MAY 29, 2014

Solid well balanced west coast IPA - super drinkable. mcberko (18977) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - JUN 27, 2017
On tap at Loyal Legion, pours a clear copper golden with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of piney hops, a bunch of citrus and crisp crackery malt. Flavour is a bit vegetal-laced, with piney hops, punchy citrus and crackery malt. Assertive yet balanced. Nice stuff.

Hazy, dullish blonde. Thin head. Orange and grapefruit nose. On the palate it picks up a more weedy hop note along with that orange. There’s a fair bit of pale malt backing this up. Another very good IPA from Beachwood.

Draught at Toronado, San Diego. Clear golden beer with a nice offwhite head. Hoppy citrus aroma, pine, passion fruit, peach, some orange zest. Hoppy pine flavor, grapes, peach, orange zest, grassy, some caramel. Nice IPA. brokensail (16645) - Dublin, California, USA - AUG 14, 2011
A: The beer pours a clear, light amber color with a dense white head, and sticky lacing.
S: A very intense nose. Lots of pineapple fruitiness and plenty more piney hops. There’s a moderate grapefruit aroma, along with mild herbal notes and sweet tropical fruits. Overall a really dank hop character.
T: The flavor is very heavy on the pine. Plenty of perfume with grapefruit, pineapple, and floral hop flavors. There is a decent amount of bitterness to it and only a touch of malt sweetness.
M: Medium bodied with a medium carbonation and a little bit of bitterness on the finish.
O: A nice IPA, here. Perhaps not as good as Melrose, but definitely something you could have a glass or two of. Ferris (16519) - Burnaby, British Columbia, CANADA - AUG 10, 2013
Bottle - Pine and some light tropical fruits. Clear gold with a rich white head. Grapefruit and a huge bitter hit that fades quickly. Nice IPA. Scopey (15704) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 9, 2014
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2014 Bottle thanks to Colin. It pours clear gold with a small white head. The nose is fresh, juniper, floral, lemon, lime and light sweetness. The taste is bitter, boozy, floral, peppery, lemon peel, grapefruit and floral notes. Light-medium body and fine carbonation. Booze is too much of a dominant factor. Nose is rather good, but the taste doesn’t live up to it.
