3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: FEB 15, 2015 20 oz bottle poured into tulip for #bottlecherwednesday at Beachwood in Seal Beach. Black opaque body with a light brown head that settles to a thin layer. Occasional lacing. Aroma is espresso, roasted malts, bakers chocolate, and dark fruits. Taste starts with moderately bitter coffee and nutty flavors then shows a light malty, chocolate sweetness. Medium-plus body, thick and creamy texture, moderate to soft carbonation, slightly bitter coffee ground finish.
Draft. Aroma of iced coffee. Flavors of coffee candy (like See’s) and booming roasted dark malts that hint at 85% dark chocolate without really being that. Together, harmony. I don’t like coffee beers, and this... Wow. Mrnoluv (354) - long beach, California, USA - JUN 18, 2017
Black color with a brown coffee color head, the smell is coffee as expected, very milky feel to it. The taste is better sweet chocolate, very well balanced coffee, cooca beans. There is a hit of dark sweet fruits as well. Very well good beer. fiulijn (20515) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 30, 2017
Tasting at Matt’sMrHangover (4555) - Den Haag, NETHERLANDS - APR 27, 2017
Black color with brown head. Deep coffee aroma, intriguing. Smooth mouthfeel, lean dark malt flavor, delicate coffee complement, a bit roasty, nutty, with mild ashy feeling in the final.
If you like lean, not overly sweet and thick Imperial Stout, this is excellent.
Bottle, red waxed, brought in by a guest. Pours a clear dark black beer with a minimal amount of light beige head on top. Aroma of mostly espresso and roast, not much else but that’s fine. Flavor has strong coffee and molasses alongside some nice roasty characters. Full bodied, yet one-sided, but absolutely not boring. Could drink this stuff while waking up for sure. The booze makes it a bit cloying and the light carbonation sharpens the alcohol even more. Aftertaste has lots of coffee and sweetness going on. Nice stuff. rxeight (3084) - Illinois, USA - MAR 28, 2017
Draft at Phantom Carriage. Black with a dark tan head. Dark espresso roast. Bitter dark chocolate. Cold hot cocoa. Tasty stuff.

Tap. Pours deep, dark brown. Aroma and flavor are chocolate, coffee, caramel, boozy molasses notes, faint dark fruit, and some earthy espresso character. Full body. after4ever (8025) - Mukilteo, Washington, USA - MAR 13, 2017
22. Thanks, uhhh...N? Think so. Pours an opaque matte black with a dense and creamy dark tan head that sticks around. Big forward dark chocolate, caramel, and molasses on the nose. Creamy thick body with moderate carb. Caramel, molasses, and dark chocolate on the mid palate, plus coffee. Long sweet finish (without being cloying). Beautifully done. Dark brown. Thin medium brown head. Has a whole lot of coffee on the nose, with some chocolate. On the palate, soft with a little bit of sweetness. Nice milk chocolate, and then the espresso beans kick in. They lend a strong coffee note, almost vegetal, and again sweet chocolate. A touch of alcohol in the finish, too. Not super complex, but all the notes it hits are good ones. mcberko (17845) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAR 3, 2017
22 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out loads of espresso upfront, followed by roasted malt, and even more coffee. Flavour is rich, with loads of espresso upfront, followed by rich roasted malt. The coffee sure is pristine and complex. Wonderful stuff. gyllenbock (9177) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - FEB 26, 2017
Bottle bought in San Diego 3 weeks ago. Black with a tan head. Quite a lot of espresso both in the aroma and taste. Also dark chocolate and molasses. The body was almost full and the finish long. A nice one.
