COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Wholly Smoke is a robust porter laced with one of our signature house flavors and aromas - smoke! A blend of British malts mingle with beechwood smoked malt and oak smoked wheat from Germany in this rich and complex smoky ale. Hopped with British Target and EKG for the perfect balance.

Ernest (7822) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - OCT 1, 2017
Draft at the brewery. Head is initially small, frothy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (chocolate, roasted grain), lightly hoppy (grapefruit), with a strong note of smoke (savory, Schlenkerla-like), lighter notes of vanilla and minerals. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Great aroma here, very Schlenkerla-like smoke character, more robust and rich and clean than Alaskan's smoked porter for sure. Not quite as enjoyable to drink as it is to sniff, unfortunately (kinda sweet and watery), but overall a really promising beer. Major kudos for not skimping on the smoke!
